TOP 10 COUNCILS giving out CALLOSAL BENEFITS!
🚨 The UK’s “benefits shame” hotspots have been exposed, with one constituency recording a £624.9million welfare bill.
New figures from the TaxPayers’ Alliance show £133.1billion was spent on six major benefits across England and Wales in the 12 months to March 2026.
Tottenham had the biggest welfare bill at ÂŁ624.9million, followed by Brent East at ÂŁ605.9million and Birmingham Ladywood at ÂŁ590.7million.
Other areas in the top 10 included Hackney North and Stoke Newington, Enfield North and Queen’s Park and Maida Vale.
The figures cover Universal Credit, Personal Independence Payment, Housing Benefit, Disability Living Allowance, Carer’s Allowance and Employment and Support Allowance.
The total has risen by ÂŁ26.1billion since the 12 months to February 2024, when ÂŁ107billion was spent on the six benefits.
The TaxPayers’ Alliance said Labour-held constituencies accounted for £98.1billion of the £133.1billion total.
Its chief executive John O’Connell claimed welfare spending had “spiralled out of control” and called for tougher restrictions on who can claim and how much they can receive.
Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary Helen Whately said the figures showed Labour had “lost control of benefits spending”.
However, the figures come from the TaxPayers’ Alliance, a campaign group that advocates lower taxes and reduced government spending.
The group is calling for tougher benefit caps, stricter assessments and eligibility rules and expanded means testing.
