Little & Broad Haven Lifeboat are posting a monthly water safety message. Please share this message to help it reach as many as possible.

October can bring some dramatic coastal weather — and we love watching the power of the sea. But dramatic conditions can quickly become dangerous.

A dramatic photograph is never worth risking your life.

If you’re visiting the coast during stormy or windy weather, remember:

STAY BACK. STAY HIGH. STAY DRY.

• Stay back – Keep well away from the water’s edge, wet rocks, pier walls and cliff edges. Sudden waves and gusts can catch you off guard.

• Stay high – Stick to safe, higher coastal paths. Avoid exposed rocks and lower areas where you could be cut off by waves or rising tides.

• Stay dry – If you’re being sprayed by waves, you’re too close.

High winds bring extra dangers. Strong gusts can knock you off your feet, while rough seas create bigger, unpredictable waves. If severe weather is forecast, change your plans and choose somewhere sheltered or inland.

Stormy weather can make inland water dangerous too. Strong winds create waves on lakes and reservoirs, while heavy rain can cause fast-flowing rivers and rising water levels.

If you get into trouble: FLOAT TO LIVE.

If someone else is in trouble: PHONE, FLOAT, THROW. Call 999/112 and ask for the Coastguard. Never enter the water to rescue someone.

Stay back. Stay high. Stay dry. Stay safe.

Not a great pumpkin harvest this year sadly. Too dry and too many life events, but we do at least have some!

We’ve opened up the kiosk in Little Haven again with potatoes, onions, pumpkins and squash.

So if you’re out and about in the village, take a look and see if you can think of something exciting to make with those 3 key ingredients! 😊

💧 𝗠𝗨𝗟𝗧𝗜𝗣𝗟𝗘 𝗕𝗨𝗥𝗦𝗧 𝗪𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗥 𝗠𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗦 𝗥𝗘𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗘𝗗 𝗜𝗡 𝗛𝗔𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗗𝗪𝗘𝗦𝗧

Welsh Water is reporting three separate incidents in the Haverfordwest area this evening, with bursts affecting Popehill, Portfield Gate and Treffgarne.

💧 Popehill - A leak has been reported on the network, with Welsh Water aware of the issue.

💧 Portfield Gate - A burst water main is affecting supplies in the area, with some customers potentially experiencing low pressure or no water. Welsh Water says it expects supplies to be fully restored later tonight.

💧 Treffgarne - A further burst has been reported, with a repair currently being planned.

Customers may notice some discolouration to their water supply following the incidents. Welsh Water advises running the cold kitchen tap to help clear this.

Further updates are expected as repair work progresses.
