The Government is consulting on major family law reforms which could affect unmarried couples, cohabiting partners and separating families across England and Wales.

The proposals include possible changes to financial provision, inheritance rights for qualifying cohabitants, divorce settlements, domestic abuse considerations and nuptial agreements.

These changes are not yet law, but they could be significant for many families if introduced.
