We are excited for this year and we hope you are too! Taking place on Sunday 2 August, it promises to be a fantastic day out for all the family, raising funds for the new critical care and emergency unit at Dorset County Hospital -https://buckhamfair.com/news-and-updates/charity-fundraser-2026/.

Packed full of independent local trade stalls, delicious food stands and a fantastic line-up of displays and show events, there really is something for everyone. This year also welcomes a brand-new attraction: the Festival of the Heavy Horses - a showcase of some of the finest heavy horses from across the region, celebrating the history, power and bond between these magnificent animals and their handlers.

Our CEO Bhavani Hogarty is part of the planning committee working hard to bring this year's event together. She says:

🎉 A huge congratulations to Sue Anthony who is celebrating 21 years with Pardoes this month!

Sue is a Legal Assistant in our Commercial Property and Agricultural Department based in Bridgwater. She is an absolute cornerstone of the team, keeping everything running smoothly, clients well informed and our team well supported.

At just 16 Sue took her first step into the profession as an Office Junior right here in the local area, working her way through receptionist and secretarial roles before joining Pardoes in 2005. By 2012/2013 she had found her home in our Commercial Property and Agriculture Team.

Thank you for everything, Sue - here's to many more years! 🥂

Pardoes first signed the Armed Forces Covenant in 2019, committing to support members of the armed forces, veterans and their families fairly. We are also proud bronze holders of the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme, with our sights set on silver this year.

One of our commitments is supporting the Cadet movement and the adult volunteers who make it possible. While volunteering can sometimes mean time away from desks, those individuals return to work more confident, resilient and effective as leaders and team members.

The impact goes even further. Cadet programmes help young people build confidence, teamwork, leadership and a strong sense of responsibility - skills that benefit them throughout their lives.

Supporting the Cadet movement is not just good for business; it is an investment in the next generation. We’d encourage other employers to consider how they can support volunteers, reservists and cadet organisations in their own communities.

400 teams of six teenagers have taken on hikes of 35, 45 or 55 miles over the rough terrain of Dartmoor this weekend, with no outside assistance. The Ten Tors event has taken place each year since 1960 (barring Covid), with more than 250,000 young people having taken part!

We were privileged to see behind the scenes in a visit to Okehampton Camp on Sunday, with estimated crowds of 10,000 people (including participants, teams staff, spectators and enablers).

Well done to all who trained, supported and participated. We hope the lower limbs aren’t feeling too stiff today!
