🦋 Creativity takes flight at Abbeyfield House!

Residents at Abbeyfield House, part of Abbeyfield Basildon Society, enjoyed getting creative during a Saturday craft morning with the lovely Sandra.

With plenty of laughter and conversation along the way, residents created their own beautiful butterfly houses, ready to add a colourful new feature to the garden. 🎨

A big thank you to Sandra for another enjoyable morning and for inspiring such fantastic creations!

☕ New friendships are brewing at Abbeyfield House! 💜

After seeing the wonderful tea party hosted by Abbeyfield House, Romsey, residents and the team at Abbeyfield House, Chipping Sodbury, part of Abbeyfield Wessex Society, are looking forward to welcoming Re-engage for a gathering of their own soon.

Re-engage is a charity dedicated to reducing loneliness and social isolation among older people. Its free services help people aged 75 and over build meaningful social connections, including through its monthly tea parties, which bring people together for conversation, laughter and friendship.

It’s wonderful to see two organisations with a shared belief in the importance of companionship and community coming together, and the Chipping Sodbury team can’t wait to welcome some new faces through their doors. 🏡

Here’s to new friendships, good conversation and, of course, plenty of tea and cake!

🎃 Trick or Treat at Abbeyfield House! 👻

There’s some spooky fun coming to Abbeyfield House, Clitheroe, part of Abbeyfield Lancashire Extra Care Society, this Halloween!

Local children and their families are invited to visit the home for a special afternoon of trick or treating with residents. Children will make their way around Abbeyfield House in small groups, looking out for Halloween decorations on residents’ doors to discover who has a treat waiting for them. 🍬

It’s a lovely opportunity to bring different generations together, welcome the local community into the home and give residents the chance to join in with the Halloween fun.

From 10:30am–12 noon, visitors are invited to pop in for a cuppa and a chat, meet some of the wonderful residents and team, and discover what life at Marjorie Baker House is all about. 🏡

🌍 A taste of South Africa at Archer House! 🇿🇦

Residents at Archer House, part of Abbeyfield Billericay Society, were taken on a virtual journey through South Africa when Chairperson Yvonne stopped by to share stories and photographs from her travels.

From discovering new places through Yvonne’s experiences to hearing more about the sights she encountered along the way, it was a fascinating opportunity for residents to experience a little of South Africa from the comfort of home. 💚

🤝 Stronger together across the South West

Abbeyfield societies from across the South West recently came together for the latest South West Information and Partnership Group (SWIPG) meeting at the Holiday Inn Taunton.

It was a successful day filled with conversation, collaboration and plenty of opportunities to share ideas and good practice. Together, societies explored how they can continue to work collaboratively, grow and develop their housing offer, and support older people in their local communities into the future.

And among all the discussions, there was one important takeaway everyone could agree on: continuing to provide residents with fresh, well-balanced meals – with a little room for cake too! 🍰

Thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to such a positive and productive day.

Abbeyfield Braintree, Bocking and Felsted Society is getting ready for a festive day at Polly’s Field Village, with its Indoor Christmas Fayre taking place on Saturday 28 November, from 10am–3pm.

There’ll be plenty to enjoy, including stalls, raffles and festive treats, with free entry for everyone. 🎁

It’s a lovely opportunity to soak up the Christmas atmosphere, support the local Abbeyfield community and enjoy a festive day out.
