Last night, the Apex Family Law team had the pleasure of attending The Telegraph & Argus Bradford Business Awards 2026.

Changing your mind isn't enough to overturn a Consent Order.
Once a Financial Remedy Consent Order has been agreed and approved by the court, it's intended to provide certainty and finality for both parties.

In K v K [2026] EWFC 83, The husband applied to set aside a Consent Order reached during the Financial Dispute Resolution (FDR) Hearing. Our Director Parminder Kumari represented the wife at the FDR hearing and subsequent set aside directions hearing. See the full article for details.

The husband's application relied on his recollection of what he believed had been said during the hearing.
The court relied on the official transcript.

The judgment made it clear that:

- A change of heart is not enough to reopen a financial settlement.
- Court transcripts matter.
- Consent Orders are designed to bring finality so both parties can move forward with confidence.

Every family law case is unique, but one thing remains the same: obtaining the right legal advice before reaching an agreement and throughout the legal process can make all the difference.

Ella graduated from Leeds Beckett University and started at Apex just 2 weeks later.

While studying, she took part in the university's Law Clinic, a small legal practice run within the university - where she worked within the family team.

Her supervisor recommended her for a paralegal role. Ella knew straight away it was something she could see herself doing, applied, and started a few weeks later.

Not long after, she was given the opportunity to progress into an apprentice solicitor role, which she began in November 2025, combining her SQE studies with hands on, practical experience.

Apex is proud to support Ella's progression and development as she continues working towards qualifying as a solicitor.

After being let down by my previous solicitor I am so glad you came to the rescue and helped me keeping my cost low as you could as I had to redo my consent form . You kept everything professional and kept me informed with constant communication throughout, I would say is massive when going through a difficult time in your life and you kept on reassuring me at all times.

The communication I lacked with previous Solicitors the times scale they took without even an outcome left me with not really trusting another Solicitors , but you proved me wrong .
I can’t thankyou enough of how easy you made everything from start to finish . Definitely recommend . Grateful for all the hard work you put in and the quick outcome you helped me to achieve in what I wanted. You have the unique ability to be relate to people in manner which most solicitors can’t.

Once again Thank you for everything. I finally feel relived it has been all done and I can move forward on with my life with my kids.
