We are pleased to help the Rotary Club of Brackley in their support of FAST's work with Ukrainian refugees in Romania

Rotary International is a humanitarian organisation committed to serving humankind across the planet, in whatever ways it can. It is also committed to ways of finding peace and conflict resolution. The world is seeing a precarious moment, greater than has been experienced in most people’s lifetimes; Russia’s declaration of war on the Ukraine.

Rotary’s response is taking much of it lead from Rotarians and Rotary clubs in the Ukraine. The Rotary Club of Brackley wants to play its part and one way is through giving financial aid to help the desperate plight of Ukrainian refugees seeking safety in neighbouring countries. The Rotary Club of Brackley are directing our support through a trusted Romanian partner – FAST Charity Romania. This is a Foundation for Social Work and Youth. They do amazing and extensive work for disadvantaged people in communities near Brasov in Romania. We have supported several of their projects in the past and witnessed the incredible results they have achieved with our money and equipment e.g. setting up a mobile computer classroom.

FAST have opened the doors of their refugee centre in Secale to Ukrainian mothers and children and are in need of further funds to host and help more displaced families
( https://mailchi.mp/9c55c7901028/in-support-of-ukraine?e=881462a030 )
and we are helping them with that through a donation from the club and from individual Rotarians. They will need support for many sometime to come.

Our dear Friends, As you know, thousands of Ukrainian mothers and children are flooding into Romania seeking shelter from war. We are setting up an Emergency Fund to be able to receive and accommodate refugees at our Centre in Sacele. Already two mothers with their children have arrived this morning...

Yesterday at 9am Chris Watts cycled into Brackley Park having cycled 501.2 miles in the month of July. The park should have been buzzing as final preparations were made for the Brackley Beer Festival but owing to Covid-19 it had to be cancelled. Chris had pledged to ride at least 500 miles in July to raise money for local charities and organisations that normally benefit from the proceeds from the charity beer festival (organised by the Brackley Roundtable).

If you would like to contribute please visit the link below to make a donation.

Griffin Forensics normally sponsors a barrel of beer at the festival so this year we have given that money in support of Chris' endavour.

There has never been a bad time to back up your computer data. It has often been a case of I will get round to it soon, or 'why bother, it will never happen to me!'
With so many employees working from home, with so many bored children and teenagers sat at home NOW would be a very good time to ensure that you have a complete backup of all your data.
There may be a world-wide health crisis going on and we may all appear to be pulling together but unfortunately there are some very malicious criminals out there who are making the most of these desperate times.
There are scams that encourage you to pay good money for appalling face-masks or hand cleansers, others trying to get you to contribute to false charities and those who are creating computer viruses that will wipe your data and stop your computer from working. The following article from ZDNET gives more detail of the latter.

Security researchers have discovered coronavirus-themed malware created to destroy users' computers.

Please be aware that apart from hoarders there are scammers trying to get you to click on links that will download malware onto your computer or try and get you to buy a cure for Covid-19. There is no such thing at this time. It is just your everyday cyber criminal trying to steal your money.
As ever, if it looks to good to be true it most likely a scam. Do not click on links, do not visit their websites, watch out for false web addresses.

Our colleague Tony rode out at Oxdord yesterday in support of this well worthwhile cause.

This year I am taking part in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride to raise funds and awareness for mens health and prostate cancer on behalf of the Movember Foundation. Prostate cancer affects more men than any other cancer, taking the lives of 307,000 men each year. A number surpassed by 500,000 men...
