From Artist Vanessa Dew
'My last original painting before major spinal surgery, sadly forcing me to close my gallery. A huge loss for the community affecting artists that exhibited their work for free, many of which suffered from addictions and other mental health issues. Inspired by my love for ‘The horse’, my painting portrays peace over power. After a freak accident mounting my horse Ted, I broke my back last year, and during scans they found I had cancer, I experienced ongoing mental battles. Somehow, my luck changed and I fell into the sympathetic hands of ‘HEROS charity’ who lead me down a path I never thought possible. Not only have they given Ted (Mighty endeavour), my ex-racer, a safe forever home, they also gently walked me into a new world where I could believe in myself and perhaps form a new partnership with a more suitable match.
And that is exactly what happened. Dom Garo Cateline’ was rescued by HEROS charity after suffering horrendous neglect. After 3 months of devoted care, he was delivered to my yard in April this year. We, I have a long journey ahead but now I am physically better I need to find those ‘big girl pants’ and get on with it.
‘Halcyon’ to me, symbolises Heros charity in so many ways and I feel this very special anniversary is a perfect opportunity to find her a new forever home, where she too will be appreciated and loved'
This is the original works; there are only five original scanned copies with certificates of authenticity which the artist owns. In the event any five are sold they will be accompanied with their numbered certificate.
