Another example of why you should instruct a solicitor

My client suffered:

🚗 Whiplash with minor travel anxiety lasting 9 months
🦵 A soft tissue injury to the left ankle lasting 5 months

The insurers were only prepared to offer £1,025 for the whiplash and travel anxiety.

We didn’t think that reflected the injuries suffered, so we took the matter to Court.

The Judge awarded my client £4,200. 👏🏼💰

That’s a significant difference from the insurer’s offer and it shows why it’s important to understand the value of your claim before accepting an offer.

Have you been injured in an accident and been offered compensation that you feel doesn’t reflect what you’ve been through?

👉 Don’t accept an offer just because the insurer has made it. Speak to us first. We can review your circumstances, explain your options and help you understand whether the offer properly reflects your injuries.

📩 Send us a message today for a confidential chat about your claim.

Client: “Why do you need so much information?!”

Me: Because unfortunately “a car crashed into mine'' isn’t quite enough 😂😂

I promise I’m not being nosey… I’m building your case. ⚖️

Remember when we were told the whiplash reforms would bring down car insurance? The reforms DID reduce insurers’ bodily-injury costs. But did we see insurance premiums fall by anything remotely comparable? That’s the question.

PERSONAL INJURY LAWYERS

We don’t get paid if we don’t win.

We don’t ask you for money upfront.

We investigate your accident, deal with the insurers, gather your medical evidence, instruct experts, prepare your claim, negotiate your compensation and, if necessary, fight your corner in court.

And we do all of that before we see a penny from you.

Yet somehow… when the claim settles and there’s a legal fee deducted, that’s when some people suddenly become VERY interested in what solicitors get paid. 😂

Would you buy a house and then tell the estate agent, “Actually, I don’t think you should get paid”?

Would you get divorced and expect your solicitor to work for free?

A personal injury solicitor is a professional providing a professional service.

The difference is, in many cases, we take the financial risk at the beginning so you don’t have to.

So yes, ask questions about your costs. You absolutely should understand them.

But remember…

No win. No fee. No upfront payment. No compensation? No legal fee.

Pov: you get a personal injury enquiry 🍆👀😫

My answer:
It Depends… was the Hoover defective, or were you just using it outside its intended purpose? 😂⚖️

POV: You call your client for ONE quick thing… and suddenly you’re 45 minutes deep into their entire life story 😂📞

🚗 ACCIDENT & THE OTHER DRIVER DRIVES OFF?

If you’ve been involved in a road traffic accident and the other driver leaves the scene without stopping or providing their details, don’t assume there’s nothing you can do.

Depending on the circumstances, you may need to notify the Motor Insurers’ Bureau (MIB) and make a claim through the appropriate scheme.

📌 No registration? No insurance details? Driver fled?
You may still have options.

If this has happened to you, speak to a solicitor before assuming you can’t claim.

⚖️ Accident Advocate POV…

I’ve seen the video doing the rounds of the HYROX competitor who unfortunately had a bowel accident during the event but what interested me as a solicitor wasn’t the embarrassment… it was the health & safety side of it.

She chose to carry on competing, but should the organisers have stopped her? 🤔

Once officials became aware that there had been faecal contamination, surely there was potentially a duty to consider the health and safety of every other competitor using the same equipment.

It’s not about shaming the athlete accidents happen, especially during intense physical exercise. But at what point does the organiser’s duty to protect everyone else kick in?

Should they have:
⚠️ Pulled her from the competition?
🧼 Removed and disinfected contaminated equipment?
🚨 Stopped her from continuing until the risk had been dealt with?

HYROX has since acknowledged that it failed to react appropriately and has said it is changing its procedures.

So I want to know what you think…

Was this simply an athlete having an unfortunate accident or did the organisers have a legal responsibility to step in?
