A little friendly competition to welcome our newest colleagues!

Following our recent acquisition of Wrigley Claydon, over 100 colleagues from all Russell & Russell branches, including our new Oldham and Todmorden offices, came together at our Atria office for an afternoon of networking, food, drinks and a team quiz!

Richard Querelle took to the mic as Quiz Master, with Jack Bakker putting everyone’s knowledge to the test with his quiz questions. There were plenty of laughs and some healthy competition along the way!

🏆 Fabulous Four took the top spot, winning a set of vouchers.

🍫 The Quizards of Oz claimed the prize for Best Team Name, taking home a box of chocolates.

🥄 Legal Eagles earned themselves the wooden spoon trophy. Someone had to!

Good food, good company and great spirits all round!

A big thank you to our clients for their understanding while our offices were closed for the afternoon.

We are delighted to announce that Russell & Russell Solicitors has acquired respected law firm Wrigley Claydon, effective 30 September 2026.

The acquisition strengthens our presence across the North West and into Yorkshire, adding offices in Oldham and Todmorden.

This brings the total number of Russell & Russell offices across Chester, Greater Manchester and Yorkshire to 10, with 21 Wrigley Claydon team members joining the Russell & Russell family and increasing our overall headcount to around 215 people, including partners.

The acquisition brings together two long-established firms with shared traditions, values and a strong commitment to their clients, people and local communities.

Together, the firms have more than 365 years of legal experience, with Russell & Russell tracing its roots back to 1887 and Wrigley Claydon having been established in Oldham in 1795.

Managing Partner Jane Penman said:

“Both firms have striking similarities in traditions and values, and the two firms are an excellent cultural fit.

“The acquisition will enable us to accelerate growth whilst continuing to deliver the highest standards of service to our clients and expand career opportunities for our people.”
