We are still on a high from last week's fantastic gala dinner with British Heart Foundation Asian Business Board! 🎉🎉

We were so pleased to be able to sponsor this inaugural event, which welcomed 500 leaders and changemakers to Birmingham for an evening of networking and entertainment, but above all the raising of important funds and awareness of cardiovascular disease and how it disproportionately affects the UK's South Asian community.

Our Partner and Head of Medical Negligence West Midlands, James Anderson, gave a speech that highlighted harrowing statistics, including that in 2023/2024 the NHS received one new medical negligence claim every 40 minutes.

On the subject of how Lime supports people from ethnic minority groups, James said: "We have seen first-hand numerous cases where the ethnicity of a patient has negatively impacted the care they have received, leading to avoidable harm... We all want to live in a fair, just society where instances like this simply cannot be allowed to happen. We are a diverse business with a number of people from those very backgrounds, fluent in a range of languages so we can truly understand people's own stories in their own words."

Thank you to the BHF Asian Business Board for the opportunity to stand in solidarity with you and share the crucial message that health equality matters. It was an honour to be involved with this important event and we look forward to a long-lasting relationship where together we can continue campaigning for this worthwhile cause.

Congratulations to our medical negligence solicitor Kate Harrison, who recently received a certificate of attendance during in recognition of her ongoing volunteer work at Age UK Loughborough's memory café.

Kate says: "I got involved with the memory cafés after hearing about them during one of the responsible business talks in Leicester. I hadn’t done any volunteering for a while, aside from helping out at local events, and thought it was manageable. It’s just a few hours a month, local, and for a good cause."

Over the past four months, Kate has supported a range of activities, including music and TV quizzes (using audio and visual prompts to help spark conversations and memories), crosswords, memory-matching games, crafts, and singalongs.

We're pleased to be taking part in the Spinal Injuries Association's flagship cycling challenge again for 2025... this year from 7th-11th May, we're cycling the 'Adriatic to Apennine' route from Venice to Bologna! From team Lime this year we have Tony Hannington and Peter Jones, who are joined by CEO and Founder of Endurance Zone and Win Your Dream Bike, David Birch, and barrister Shahram Sharghy of 1 Crown Office Row! Our medical negligence experts Wioleta Dworak and Tara Pooni are working with Hazha and Bahroz Ghafoor to investigate the failings that led to baby Maily’s death.

Too often, we see the same patterns of failings – missed warning signs, poor communication and a lack of properly-trained staff. We also know from recent national reports that maternity services across the country are in crisis, and it is families like this who are paying the ultimate price.
