The one thing you don’t want to forget when you’re separating?
Your will.
Most people focus on the house, finances, and child arrangements, but forget that their will may still leave everything to their ex.
If something happens before you’ve updated it, your wishes might not reflect your new circumstances.
A separation does not automatically revoke your will.
In many cases, your ex could still be named as a beneficiary, executor, or trustee.
That’s why reviewing your will should be on your breakup checklist as early as possible.
A simple update now can prevent unnecessary complications and give you peace of mind about the future.
