A huge thank you to Kirsty from our marketing team and Lydia from our Library team who recently gave their time to volunteer with Young Enterprise Northern Ireland at Strathearn School! 📚

As part of the Learn to Earn program, Kirsty and Lydia drew on their professional experience to help pupils explore important employability and life skills, sharing their knowledge and supporting young people as they think about their future career paths.

Thank you both for giving your time and making a difference! 👏

And the volunteering doesn’t stop there! Next week, more colleagues will begin volunteering with Business in the Community Northern Ireland's to Read and to Count programs at Cliftonville Integrated Primary School, supporting pupils to build their literacy and numeracy skills throughout the school year!

Giving young people access to education is a key pillar of our social impact work and we’re proud to support the work of both organisations through the A&O Shearman Foundation and the Belfast Grants program.

💜 £66,090 raised for Northern Ireland Hospice and Northern Ireland Children's Hospice! 💜

What an incredible way to mark the end of our two-year partnership with the Northern Ireland Hospice and Children’s Hospice. Thanks to the generosity, enthusiasm and dedication of our people, we raised an incredible £66,090, exceeding our original fundraising target of £45,000.

But our support went beyond fundraising. More than 100 colleagues volunteered, contributing almost 600 hours helping in Hospice shops, supporting street collections and events, as well as maintaining the gardens at the Hospice.

Throughout this partnership, we've seen first-hand the impact of the Hospice's work, providing specialist respite, symptom management and end-of-life palliative care to more than 4,600 infants, children and adults each year across Northern Ireland.

We're incredibly grateful to everyone who played a part, especially the members of our social impact committee, for coordinating our efforts.

Most importantly, our thanks go to Northern Ireland Hospice and Northern Ireland Children's Hospice it’s been a privilege to support your work.

Ready to make a difference!

Our latest and volunteers are all set to support pupils at Cliftonville Integrated Primary School in North Belfast.

A huge thank you to Ciara from Business in the Community Northern Ireland for delivering a brilliant training session and preparing our colleagues to help children strengthen their literacy and numeracy skills, build confidence, and discover the joy of learning.

We’re especially proud that Business in the Community’s ‘Time to…’ initiatives are supported by the A&O Shearman Foundation through our Belfast Grants Program, helping to create even more opportunities to make a positive difference in our local community.

🌈 Celebrating inclusion, visibility and belonging

It was fantastic to see so many colleagues join our LGBTea, held to coincide with National Coming Out Day.

As well as taking the time to celebrate visibility, inclusion, and belonging, colleagues tested their knowledge of Belfast’s vibrant LGBTQ+ community with our ‘Out in Belfast’ quiz.

A big thank you to our LGBTQ+ network for organising, and to everyone who joined us, took part in the quiz, sparked conversations, and helped create such a positive and welcoming atmosphere.

Slieve Donard Challenge for Air Ambulance Northern Ireland 🚁

Is there a better combination than getting outdoors and giving back?

Recently, three of our colleagues – John, Anna Leigh, and Laura – swapped their desks for hiking boots and took on Slieve Donard, raising more than £1,000 for Air Ambulance NI in the process.

With World Mental Health Day last weekend, their challenge was a lovely reminder to make time for our wellbeing, enjoy the outdoors and connect with others, while making a difference to an important local cause.

🚁 Supporting Air Ambulance Northern Ireland

Members of our Social Impact Committee recently had the opportunity to visit the Air Ambulance Northern Ireland base outside Lisburn and see first-hand the dedication, expertise and teamwork that goes into keeping this life-saving service operational.

The visit gave the team valuable insight into the work that happens behind the scenes and reinforced just how important fundraising is in helping to keep the service running.

We’re proud to support Air Ambulance Northern Ireland as our charity partner in Belfast and grateful to Kerry and the team for such a warm welcome.

And the fundraising continues! This weekend, three of our colleagues - John, Laura and Anna Leigh - are taking on the Slieve Donard challenge in support of the charity. We wish them the very best of luck for tomorrow and hope they enjoy every step of the climb! 🫶
