Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate Neurodivergent Pride Day this week.

We were delighted to welcome Dr Ali Bromley, psychologist, ADHD coach, and winner of Big Brother 2024, who shared her personal journey alongside her professional insights into neurodiversity. Her experience of being diagnosed with ADHD during lockdown, and the reflection that it’s never too late to learn about yourself and those around you, really sparked thought and discussion across the room.

The session encouraged us to look again at some of the assumptions we make — particularly around how people communicate and engage at work. It was a helpful reminder that everyone works and communicates differently, that inclusion isn’t a one-size-fits-all and it’s about celebrating difference not disorder.

A key takeaway was the idea of showing “neuro courtesy” — giving people the time, space and understanding they need, and being mindful of different ways of thinking, working, and communicating in the workplace.

Thank you to our LGBTQ+ network for organising, and to Gaby Cattle and Gary Tearle for hosting such an impactful session! 🌈

Our Access to Justice scholarship with Ulster University—turns ten.

Since 2015, our Access to Justice scholarship has worked to help those facing social and financial barriers.

We have supported 23 postgraduate students, including 13 mature students, who have helped to:
• Deliver over GBP1 million in free legal advice
• Contribute more than 10,000 pro bono hours
• Help over 300 clients through Ulster University’s Law Clinic

The scholarship not only helps individuals access vital legal support, but equips students with real-world experience in areas like employment, social security and family law—building skills that will shape their future careers.

Naomi Buchanan, Executive Director, Advanced Delivery Legal said: “Increasing access to justice and removing barriers to education are central to our social impact work, helping to shape a more inclusive society. We recognise the importance of training graduate law students in social justice, as this drives positive social change and creates a more diverse, and inclusive talent pipeline for the legal profession in Northern Ireland. We look forward to seeing future students’ progress their legal careers through this course as we continue to provide two of these valuable scholarships every academic year.”

A tree-mendous effort from our colleagues!

As part of our global Action4Sustainability Month, 19 colleagues in Belfast stepped away from their desks to volunteer with The Conservation Volunteers Northern Ireland at their tree nursery in Cultra—braving every type of weather along the way! 🌦️

The volunteering was part of our global month of volunteering every June that brings colleagues together through activities that support social impact, environmental sustainability, and well-being. 🌍

Their efforts made a real impact, as they focusing on weeding and landscaping the nursery, while also helping to create a new outdoor picnic area for the community to enjoy.

The Conservation Volunteers plays a vital role in protecting conservation areas and increasing woodland cover across Northern Ireland. Their unique tree nursery—one of a kind in Ireland—grows native trees from seed by hand, with volunteers helping to collect, process, sow, and nurture young saplings until they are ready to be planted in their forever home.🌿🌳

A huge thank you to everyone who got involved— your commitment, effort and energy make a real difference!

⭐️ Celebrating Volunteers’ Week ⭐️

At A&O Shearman, everyone is encouraged to volunteer their time and skills with two days' volunteering leave. It’s the shared commitment of individuals across the firm that enables us to create lasting impact together. From supporting our charity partners, to championing causes close to their hearts, colleagues in Belfast have contributed over 2,000+ volunteering hours in the last year!

Volunteering is a powerful force for good. It helps us to build strong connections with our local communities, supports well-being and creates a sense of purpose and a strong workplace culture. Above all, it creates meaningful change.

To all our volunteers – thank you. We couldn’t achieve the impact we do in the community without your support. ❤️

We welcomed the Air Ambulance Northern Ireland team to our office as we officially launched our new charity partnership.

Hearing directly from the team really brought into focus the vital, life-saving role they play across Northern Ireland. Every day, two people require their urgent support, with a highly skilled crew delivering advanced care. With a five-minute take-off time and the ability to reach anywhere in Northern Ireland within 25 minutes, their impact is extraordinary.

Over the next two years, we aim to raise £45,000, which could potentially save the lives of ten people.

Our colleagues are already getting involved, preparing to take part in the Runway Run at Belfast City Airport on Wednesday, June 10, as well as volunteering at the event to support this important cause. 🏃‍➡️🏃‍♀️‍➡️

We’re excited to get started and look forward to sharing more as our fundraising journey gets underway! 🚁

A big thank you to our colleagues - Andrew, Brianagh, Laura, Ryan, Helen and Pauline - who used their volunteering days to support our baby bank partner, Blossoms Belfast.

During their time supporting the charity, the team helped sort clothing donations and baby essentials for families with babies and young children.

Blossoms plays a vital role in supporting families facing financial pressures across Belfast. As well as providing essential items for babies and young children, they also support mothers with much-needed supplies, helping ensure families have the resources they need during an important and often challenging time.

Thanks to Cherryl, Briege and Susan from Blossoms who make a real difference to families every week!

A big thank you to our colleagues Paula, Sarah, Emma and Caoimhe who volunteered with the Ulster Orchestra as part of the Crescendo Project. 🎶

Our team supported Primary 3 and Primary 7 pupils from Malvern Primary School, Wheatfield Primary School, Holy Evangelist Primary School and Good Shepherd Primary School during their rehearsals, as they prepared for their final performance at the Ulster Hall on June 10.

Through support from our Belfast Grants programme, nearly 1,000 children across primary schools in North and West Belfast are gaining access to music lessons that nurture confidence, creativity, and connection. Crescendo plays a vital role in opening doors to high-quality music education, helping young people build resilience, teamwork and a love of learning.

It was inspiring for the volunteers to see the pupils in action and to witness the impact of this initiative first-hand as they worked towards their big performance.

A sincere thank you to the Ulster Orchestra team for the opportunity to be part of such a meaningful and uplifting project.

This Sunday, we have two relay teams competing in the Belfast City Marathon. It’s the final fundraising push of our two-year charity partnership with Northern Ireland Hospice and Northern Ireland Children's Hospice. 🏃‍♂️‍➡️🏃‍♀️‍➡️

Huge thanks to Olivia, Hannah, Niall, Katie, Ryan, Alexandria, Fiona, Chris, Ciaran and Marina for going the extra mile. Alongside the training miles, they have put just as much energy into fundraising, raising an incredible £1,500 and counting! 👏

Thanks to efforts like this, we have now exceeded our overall fundraising target for Northern Ireland Hospice, an achievement we are incredibly proud of.

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported, donated, and cheered us on over the past two years. This partnership has reflected our shared commitment to supporting our local community – every fundraiser, event, and mile covered has helped contribute to the vital services the Northern Ireland Hospice and Children’s Hospice deliver every day. 💜

Best of luck to both our teams this weekend. We will be cheering you on every step of the way! 🙌
