We didn’t set out to be “inspiring”.
We set out to do things differently because we knew there was a better way.

That's why we’re so incredibly humbled to share that both of our co-founding partners, Tina Marshall-Kelliher and Victoria Barnett have been named among The Business Exchange Bath & Somerset’s Most Inspiring Women 2026.

Even more so knowing this recognition comes from being voted for by others.

Being recognised in this way is a reminder of why we do what we do every day. We’re inspired by our clients’ courage, by the trust they place in us, and by the possibility of change when a calmer, more human approach to divorce is offered.

To help couples navigate separation with dignity, clarity and compassion.
To reduce conflict, protect children, and support families through one of life’s most difficult transitions.

To focus not on the end of a relationship, but on what comes after and how people can move forward with positivity and poise.

Thank you to everyone who nominated, supported and believed in our work. We’ll continue to champion amicable outcomes and help as many couples as possible pave the way for life beyond separation.

Collaboration!

What a lovely way to end a week with likeminded people!

We had a great meeting with Rosie Beaven and Lucy Race from @ this afternoon. Rosie and Lucy have both just finished their training, so we met up with them to discuss how it works in practice and our clients' experience of it.

By working with other family lawyers in a collaborative way, we're finding more ways of avoiding contentious and dated methods of guiding couples through divorce and separation and moving on to new lives in a much more settled and optimistic way.

Interestingly, we're also finding that many couples who realise that their future is not together, want to find a route through the process that respects a civil balance and provides the best possible outcome for not only them but their family.

By building a network of support around them of likeminded contacts, all working towards the same end goal, couples can start to see a future that can work for them without ongoing conflict and resentment.

Going into the weekend feeling proud of the work we do, the collaborations we're creating along the way and the clients we are privileged to support.

What exactly is the One Couple One Solicitor approach?

It's a unique concept that even some solicitors outside the Family Law sphere are not familiar with. But the No-Fault Divorce law changed that on April 6, 2022.

Now couples who realise their marriage has broken down irretrievably but want an amicable separation to move on to the next phase of their life, have the ability to do so.

Reducing conflict and emotional stress, protecting the wellbeing of the family and the couple themselves and encouraging a more cost effective, constructive approach is now possible.

Finding the right solicitor, is the first step. In this short video, Tina Marshall-Kelliher and Victoria Barnett explain further.

A recent ruling in the divorce courts this month has provided further clarity on how courts should handle final orders when couples reconcile following a conditional divorce order.

The order established that for reconciliation periods under two years, the court should not be prevented from granting a final order. This ruling addresses a significant previous gap under existing guidance and highlights the fact that any attempt at reconciliation can take time without the addition pressure of considering legal deadlines.

For many couples, this can help to release the pressures and encourage either a reconciliation or at the very least, a move towards an amicable split if the inevitability of that becomes apparent.

Any reconciliatory period under two years should be viewed as an attempt at reconciliation rather than as a barrier to finalising a divorce.

At One Family Law Solicitors, we welcome any move towards clarity in the process that encourages more amicable conditions for couples wanting to separate or divorce.

A robust cross-section of 20,000 members of the public had a "substantial lack of knowledge" around what the law is on separation and dividing assets at the end of a relationship.

Taking early neutral advice, particularly under the One Couple One Solicitor approach, could avoid the need to rely on DIY solutions, based on misconceptions that see one or both parties treated unfairly.
