The role of Cafcass is to represent the interests of the child in the family court.

In public family law matters involving social services, such as care proceedings, the court will appoint a Cafcass officer to advise on the child’s welfare.

Sometimes, a Cafcass officer may be appointed during private family law matters, for example when separating parents cannot agree on a decision relating to a child.

What is a Civil Partnership?

Both civil partnerships and marriage are a legal relationship between two people, offering nearly identical legal and financial rights to couples.

The main difference is that marriage requires spoken vows, while a civil partnership involves a purely administrative signing process.
