13 Windows Re-Caulked! New Build Cracks & Silicone Repairs

This new build had developed cracks around 13 windows after the house had settled, with the extreme summer heat making the caulking even more challenging to apply. I re-caulked all the windows and stair trims, then stripped and replaced old silicone around the kitchen worktops and utility room.

I also tested a different caulk and was impressed with how well it applied despite the heat. The silicone work brought another challenge, with the customer requesting brown silicone and a much shorter working time than I'm used to.

A full day of sealing, re-caulking and silicone replacement to get everything looking neat again.

How I Removed Huge Gate Posts Without Pulling Them Out

Two large timber gate posts were left in place after the gates had been removed, taking up valuable space either side of the driveway. Rather than digging out the substantial posts, I cut them down in situ using a circular saw, multi-tool, spade bit and crowbar. One side was taken below gravel level, while the other was carefully removed below the brick level so the customer could reinstate the area with sand and another brick. A satisfying bit of problem-solving!

Making Room for a New Fridge | Worktop Modification

A customer was replacing their small under-worktop fridge with a taller, more modern appliance, but the existing worktop was stopping it from being installed on delivery. I trimmed the worktop back and fitted new edging strip to leave a neat finish.

Fixing Sagging Shed Doors | T Hinge Upgrade

The shed doors had started catching on the floor after sagging due to the cheap flush hinges originally fitted. After straightening the doors and adjusting the gaps, I replaced the hinges with three front-mounted T hinges, getting the doors working smoothly and making the shed usable again.

🔨 August at Ready Restorations – A Look Back at This Month’s Work

It’s been another varied and productive month at Ready Restorations, with a mixture of repairs, installations, maintenance and property improvements completed for customers across the local area.

This month’s work has included day/night kitchen blind repairs, bathroom extractor fan replacement, kitchen fitting and door installation, gutter repairs and cleaning, exterior UPVC cleaning, PAT testing, kitchen worktop removal, skirting installation, coaxial socket replacement and TV troubleshooting, satellite dish removal, shelving and radiator installation, plumbing repairs, garden projects, window re-caulking, kitchen splashback re-siliconing and the removal of unused gate posts.

The collage shows just a selection of the work carried out during August. From individual repairs and maintenance jobs through to helping with larger projects, I’m always happy to provide a hand where needed.
