I started Mediation Zone in 2021 after over 30 years as a litigation lawyer, the majority of which were as a partner and Head of Dispute Resolution at Brethertons Solicitors, a top 250 law firm. Since qualify

ing as a solicitor as long ago as 1986, my legal experience has more or less been exclusively litigation focussed. I have seen clients spend literally tens of thousands of pounds on cases and often, even if they have won, been unhappy with the outcome. A victory nearly always leaves the winner out-of-pocket. There is an old saying “the law is like Claridges…open to everybody”. I don’t know about you, but I have never eaten at Claridges and suspect that the vast majority of people who end up litigating in the legal system have not either. The fact is, going to law to resolve a dispute is in most cases prohibitively expensive. There has to be a better way. It’s called mediation
