Here are 18 apps and sites to know when you move: your residence permit, taxes, health cover and records, banking, business setup, transport, housing and a few for everyday life.

Some rules depend on your situation, so we’ve flagged those on the slides. Check the official page before you act, as eligibility and fees can change.

📍Normandy, France

Did you know?

1️⃣ Honfleur’s tall, narrow harbor houses were built that way because property tax used to be calculated by street frontage.

2️⃣ Neufchâtel cheese is sometimes shaped like a heart, a tradition said to come from Norman dairymaids gifting cheese to the soldiers they fell for.

3️⃣ The tides around Mont Saint-Michel are among the most extreme in Europe, changing the whole look of the bay throughout the day.

4️⃣ Norman dinners traditionally pause mid-meal for a shot of Calvados or apple sorbet, called the “trou Normand.”

5️⃣ Monet painted Rouen Cathedral’s facade 28 times, just to capture how the light changed on it hour by hour.

This is the France we get to help people move to.

Six Paris coffee spots that aren’t really about the coffee.

A vinyl listening bar. A café that mails your letters into the future. A self-portrait studio with an espresso counter. A vintage clothing shop with a full bar built in. A flat white under a 13th-century vaulted ceiling. 😍

Many people assume switching visa categories in France means flying home and starting over.

That’s not always true.

If you hold a valid VLS-TS or carte de séjour, you can generally apply to switch to a different permit category from inside France, as long as you meet the new category’s requirements.

One clear exception: short-stay and visa-free entries don’t qualify for this at all.

Journées du Patrimoine is back September 19–20. 🇫🇷

For one weekend, thousands of heritage sites across France open their doors to the public, including places you normally can’t visit. Think embassies, ministries, private mansions, historic institutions, and restoration sites.

Many are free, though some require advance reservations.

If you’re in Paris this weekend, save this before you start planning. ✨

Getting to 🇫🇷France is the easy part. Feeling at home here takes longer.

Adjusting to a new country is more than a visa and an apartment. It’s learning how things work, understanding the culture, and giving yourself time.

From speaking French and navigating bureaucracy to making friends and finding your footing at work, it all adds up. Market runs, metro rides, and small talk with neighbours included.

We see it every day: nobody figures it all out at once. Start small, stay curious. 🤍

Learning the language, figuring out the little things, celebrating the milestones, and eventually realizing… this feels like home. Kinda chic, isn’t it? ✨
