I could see myself lying there, daydreaming of times past, imagining a life less ordinary, and soaking in the beauty of it all. 🌿✨

Walking into this French château was a delightful surprise. I mean, I was not expecting the interior to be such a jaw-dropping spectacle! The details inside are just beautiful—classic and delicate vibes everywhere. And can we talk about those fireplaces and parquet floors? Absolute stunners. If it were up to me, I’d practically set up camp in the salon. Those architectural mouldings are like instant therapy; I can picture myself just chilling with my feet up by the fire, and housework? Yeah, that’s definitely taking a backseat!

RENOVATED & UNDER €1M……picked out by my secret idol Shannon with 3,390 sq ft and built in 1840 (which was four year after our former Chateau La Perriere was built!). Renovated in 2004, and boy you can tell, the facade and the garden looks immaculate from the photos. I LOVE a property which has already had a vast amount of investment done, it means you don’t have to……whoop whoop! All whilst having a respect for the original architectural features.

Renovating abroad isn’t for everyone. It can be tricky to navigate, especially if you are not fluent at the language. Therefore, there are many properties like this where someone else has done the hard work.

If you are a fixer upper type person, times have become easier with the likes of instagram and Facebook, giving you the ability to connect with other English people and trades. However, I can’t emphasise enough the importance to use local trades people. That doesn’t mean we never used English people, but for the most part we used local artisans. This helped us to built relationships with the locals, which in turn help to support us in the long run.

DREAM CHATEAU……and I mean dreeeeeaaaaam chateau. I’m already there walking or should I say floating down the stairs. I’m finding it difficult to know where I’d spend my days? Would it be the incredible dining room with the gorgeous panels, or the stunningly elegant entrance hall or simply laying on the lawn admiring the incredible brick architecture. Everything is so meticulous it is impossible to choose, where would you be?

Did you know the annual tax d’habitation is being abolished for main residence? Which means watch out second home owners you may still have to pay it……. Nobody quite knows what if any will replace it. When we know we will let you know.

Annual Taxes in France can range depending on the commune your property is in. So be sure to ask the agent how much the annual taxes are on the property your interested in.

SO MUCH CHATEAU……for €625,400, how is that even possible? Ok, so there isn’t much land, but to be honest this can actually be a benefit, especially if you’re not looking for a huge amount of maintenance. Also this chateau is complete and has been renovated, so the deal is even better, and they’ve kept a lot of character in situ.

NEAR CARCASSONE……a characterful property on 3 hectares of land….so as I’ve said many time before, a nice easy manageable amount. Inclusive of 3 other maisons, a barn and numerous other buildings, so plenty of scope. Carcassonne is such a beautiful part of France. We arrived on Saturday, passing through the medieval city and it is a city of two parts, the new town and the city of Carcassonne. The new town is full of incredible architecture, cobbled streets and individual boutiques which are famous in France. The cite of Carcassonne is a must place to visit, my suggestion is to get there early before castle itself is open, you can wonder the streets, which are incredible before the shops are open and visit the cathedral which is utterly stunning.
