🌏 Regulatory Radar 12: Hong Kong detected a banned dye in a Medicube product at 1.5 ppm, a level below what the brand’s laboratory could reportedly detect.
Its tests may therefore have found nothing, but “not detected” does not always mean “not present”.
Even so, context changes the story: the affected batches came from an unauthorised reseller in Singapore, outside Medicube’s official supply chain, and the brand’s local entity was later cleared.
Meanwhile, Korea suspended advertising for two Medicube products because their claims exceeded what cosmetics are allowed to promise, while China tightened its rules for influencers making medical-sounding claims.
Together, these cases show three very different regulatory issues: traceability, advertising claims and influencer accountability.
