ALO LEX-FIX – We are hiring 📣📣📣

Two full-time positions available in our Arboleas (Almería) office.

We are a team of five. We work closely, help each other and keep a good working environment while getting the job done. Everyone is involved and takes responsibility.

Position 1 – Administrative / Legal Assistant
General support across the firm.
Work: File management and admin
Document preparation
Client communication (mainly in English)
Liaising with notaries, registries and public bodies

Position 2 – Tax / Fiscal
Main focus on tax, with support in other areas when needed.
Work: Tax and administrative file handling
Preparation and review of tax documentation
Client communication (mainly in English)
Coordination with public bodies

Requirements (both roles):
-High level of English and Spanish (essential)
-Organised and able to work independently
-Professional with clients

Valued (especially for Position 2):
-Knowledge of Spanish tax system
-Legal background
-Experience in a law firm or similar

Conditions:
-Full-time
-9:30 to 17:30

ALO LEX-FIX S.L. is pleased to announce that Carly Flitney from ADD SERVICES will be moving offices on the 1st of April and will be sharing premises with us at our office in Arboleas.

Whilst we continue to operate as two local well-established businesses, we will now be able to offer a more extensive range of services such as:

Initial visas, renewals, conveyancing, resident and non-resident tax returns, tax advice, driving licences, medical registrations, Wills & inheritance, and much more.

Once Carly moves, she will still be available on the same email address and mobile number (616 293 334).

⚠️HUÉRCAL-OVERA OFFICE ⚠️

Stephanie, who many of you may have met in our Huércal-Overa office since joining the team in October 2024, is now working full-time from our Arboleas office.

Our Huércal-Overa office remains open; however, due to the nature of our work we are sometimes required to attend the Notary, banks, Land Registry, or other appointments outside the office.

For this reason, we cannot always guarantee that someone will be present if you arrive without prior notice.

If you are planning to pop into the Huércal-Overa office, we would greatly appreciate a quick call or email beforehand so we can ensure that someone is available to assist you.

New Schengen entry requirements (EU Entry Exit System - EES)
From 12 October 2025, the European Union’s (EU) new Entry/Exit System (EES) will begin. It will require third country nationals, including UK nationals, visiting the EU to create a digital record and provide their biometric data (fingerprints and facial image) at the border when they enter the EU’s Schengen Zone.

To be exempt from registering with the EU’s Entry Exit System (EES), British residents in the EU will be required to show a uniform-format biometric card which is listed as a residency document under the Withdrawal Agreement. For residents of Spain, that card is the Tarjeta de Identidad de Extranjero (TIE). During the initial 6 months of EES your passport may be stamped on entry and exit. This will not affect your rights in the EU country or countries where you live or work.

On arrival, if you cannot prove that you are a resident in Spain, you may be asked additional questions at the border to enter the EU and may be required to register in EES.

Green Certificates (‘Certificado de Registro de Ciudadano de la Unión Europea’) will not be recognised for EES exemption. The Tarjeta de Identidad de Extranjero (TIE) is the only residency document listed in the EU Schengen Border Guard Handbook and is the only document which border officers will accept as legal proof of residency.

Green Certificate holders may be wrongly identified as overstaying in the Schengen area and, therefore, denied entry to Spain or other Schengen countries.

Contact the Spanish Government’s ‘Extranjeria’ offices for information on how to apply for the new TIE.

🌞 Summer Opening Hours – ALO LEX-FIX SL 🌞

This August, our Arboleas office will remain open as usual, Monday to Friday from 09:30 to 17:30.

Our Huércal-Overa office will be closed from the 18th of August and will reopen on the 1st of September.

If you need anything during that time, feel free to contact our team in Arboleas.

🎉 Huge congratulations to our brilliant colleague Dan.

Not content with being a fully qualified Spanish abogado, Dan decided he wanted to specialise in tax law. To this end, he has spent the past two years doing a Masters Degree in Spanish Taxation. On Monday he got his final exam result, no less than a 9.2 out of 10! We did ask what happened to the other 8%, and his answer was "I allowed an 8% retention"....

He has already put a lot of this newfound knowledge to use! Over the past few months, Dan has successfully challenged the Tax Office's findings for a great number of our clients, helping those clients to not just save money but even get money back through refunds after overpayment.

📣 IMPORTANT – Fingerprint Appointments for TIE cards 📣

At ALO LEX-FIX, we have made the decision to stop offering the service of booking fingerprint (TIE) appointments for the time being, due to the current shortage of appointments and the difficulty in securing them.

Unfortunately, we do not have the capacity to monitor the booking system full-time, and we do not want our clients to experience unnecessary delays.

✅️ We are still here to guide you through the process of booking your own appointment and, once secured, we can assist with the necessary paperwork ✅️

🔍 We’ve noticed some confusion online, where people believe that "abogados" or "gestores" have access to a different or faster appointment system. This is not the case. The booking platform is the same for everyone, and no professional or agency has privileged access. Some larger companies may have staff assigned to check the system constantly, but the process itself is identical for all users.

Please note that we continue to offer support with:
✅ Non-lucrative visa renewals
✅ Residency for EU citizens
✅ Residency for family members of EU citizens

We appreciate your understanding and remain committed to supporting you through every other part of your residency process.

📣 IMPORTANT 📣

Hello all!

Like most of us in this area, we have only just got back our electricity, phone signal and internet.

For anyone who lives outside of the country and is unaware of the situation, yesterday Spain experienced a total blackout which left the entire country without any electricity or phone signal for over 12 hours. In our case, it has been nearly 23 hours.

We will endeavour to pick up where we left off yesterday.
