**How I Lost a Lot of Money Trusting “the Olympic Champion”** Fabio Anobil
At the end of January 2024, I went to a bar in Santa Catalina with my girlfriend. As soon as we walked in, we were approached by an energetic young Italian man. He introduced himself as Fabio, an Olympic-winning cyclist, proudly showing off his strong, muscular legs.
A few days later, he texted me, claiming that one of his sponsors was Rolex and that he could get me watches at a discount. The deal was that I would transfer him 30% upfront, and the rest I would pay when I picked up the watches in full or even in installments by the end of April 2024. I knew it sounded too good to be true, but Fabio was very convincing …
On March 9, 2024, I transferred 30% of the cost to his private account, expecting an official confirmation of my order from Rolex as Fabio promised. This never happened.
Instead, on March 16, 2024, he started pressuring me to send him more money to cover 50% of the cost. When I said that was not the deal and that I didn’t feel comfortable sending more money, he threatened that I would lose the initial payment if I didn’t comply. He was extremely pushy, and I ended up sending him more money.
As the end of April approached, the “delivery date” was pushed to mid-May, and then to the end of May. I waited patiently … still hoping that it was true ..
Around May 20, I asked Fabio for an update. He told me he was in Sydney and would look into it. The next day, however, he sent me a photo of the Rolex factory in Geneva, claiming he was about to collect the watches and that I needed to transfer the outstanding balance immediately. At this point, he also sent me an "official letter from Rolex," ROLEX which looked very fake to me and to my friend who works at Rolex. So here we have something that looks like a document faking as well.
When at the end I told him strongly that I am not sending any more money and I expect to receive the product asap, Fabio told me to be careful as he has 11 lawyers working to protect him.
I guess he is the kind of the person that really needs 11 lawyers !
After that he blocked me on his social media so I can’t tag him on instagram where he has more then 11K followers on closed profile …
I reported Fabio Anobile to the Spanish and Italian police, who confirmed that it appeared to be fraud. I also asked the police if I could share my experience on social media, and they confirmed that if I simply share my experience and have all the evidence to prove it, it is within my rights to do so.
I'm sharing this in case someone else is being tricked and finds this story familiar.
Be careful who you trust and stay safe. 💙
