What is the truth about Camposol?

Many houses were built without a Licencia de Primera Ocupación (habitation/occupancy licence).
You can still legally own the house (it will have title deeds).
Most homes have water and electricity connected in practice.
The main risks are:
Trouble getting a mortgage
Lower resale value
Possible difficulty legalising later (depends on the individual property)
You are very unlikely to “lose” the house, but you could face paperwork and resale complications.
Before buying, your lawyer should confirm in writing:
Whether the house has a habitation licence
Whether there are any urban planning infractions
Whether it can be legalised if needed
Camposol isn’t automatically “bad” — but you must know exactly what you’re buying before you commit.
