Serbia’s new regime on unfair trading practices, in force since May 1, 2026, introduces an important additional layer of protection for suppliers’ trade secrets and confidential business information.

The new rules bring potential administrative enforcement alongside existing civil remedies, making it essential for both suppliers and buyers to review how sensitive information is requested, shared, used and protected across the supply chain.

Early enforcement practice will be key - but businesses should start reviewing their contractual and internal procedures now.

As of 4 June 2026, Serbia has introduced a new Rulebook governing disputes concerning .rs and .срб domain names.

While the new framework largely preserves the existing system, it introduces several important procedural improvements, including a sole expert as the default decision-maker, mandatory electronic filing, and protection for geographical indications.

In our latest article, our colleague Ognjen Pantelic examines the key changes and their practical implications for trademark and geographical indication holders.
The amendments are expected to make domain name dispute resolution faster, more efficient, and better aligned with international standards.

Our IP enforcement training initiative continues across the region. Following the sessions in North Macedonia, ZMP Bosnia and Herzegovina organized a dedicated training for customs officers from Banja Luka, Sarajevo, Tuzla, and Mostar.

Through practical case studies and product presentations, participants strengthened their skills in identifying counterfeit goods and recognizing trademark infringement.

By investing in knowledge sharing and cooperation with enforcement authorities, we continue to support stronger brand protection and the fight against counterfeiting across the region.

ZMP Bosnia and Herzegovina organized a customs training session to strengthen IP enforcement, brand protection, and anti-counterfeiting efforts.
