TRAVELLING WITH YOUR VACCINATION CERTIFICATE

Good news!

There has been an update on the sanitary requirements to enter Spain. If you have completed your COVID vaccinations, you will be able to come to Spain without having to present a negative PCR or an antigens test certificate.

If you already have been vaccinated, you must provide your vaccination certificate. It being an official certificate (from your country of origin) that states that the last dose of the COVID-vaccine has been administered at least 14 days prior to travelling. The certificate must be written in Spanish/English/French/German or translated by an official translator. It must include your name and surname(s), the date of vaccinations, type of vaccine, number of administered doses, country and identification of the institution issuing the vaccination certificate.
If, on the other hand, you have not yet received your COVID vaccinations (or have not yet received all the mandatory doses), do not worry, you may still enter the country with one of these certificates:

• Diagnosis certificate: you could either present a (negative) PCR test or the faster and economic version of it, the Antigent test. Remember that it must have been issued within the 48 hours prior to your arrival to Spain). This certificate must include the country where it was issued, the name and surname of the individual, kind of test and the date of when the sample was taken.

• Certificate of recovery: if you have been diagnosed with COVID on the last 180 days but no longer have it, the competent authority (or at least by a medical service) shall issue a certificate of recovery in which they must include the name and surname of the individual, as well as the date in which the first positive test diagnosed for SARS-CoV-2 was issued (at least 11 days prior to the certificate of recovery), and the country and type of NAAT test taken.

• EU’s digital COVID certificate: From the 1st of July it will be possible for residents from the countries of the European Union to use their EU COVID digital certificate to freely move within the EU space without necessity to print and show it at the airport. Such certificate will automatically state the type of certificate (vaccination, diagnosis or recovery) that allows them to travel.

NEW SUBSIDY AVAILABLE TO BUY YOUR HOUSE

The Government of the Canary Islands has decided to grant a subsidy for first-time young homebuyers.

The grant will cover up to 20% of the maximum total cost of the purchase, with a limit of 11.000€ per property. The dateline to present the grant request is the 30th of June 2021.

To qualify you should be under the age of 35 and have bought the property between the 1st of September 2020 and the 30th of June 2021, being such property your habitual residence for at least the 5 years following the purchase.

In order to benefit from such grant there are also other requirements to follow:

Your annual income must not exceed 22.558€, but if you have a large family (3 or 4 children) or if there’s someone in the family with a general disability such income can be up to 30.076€. Instead, if the large family is rated under the category of special (5 children or more) or there’s a family member with an special disability the limit has been set up at 37.595€.

You must have requested a mortgage that covers at least 50% of the total value of the purchase.

Also, none of the family members can own a property, unless they can prove their inability to enjoy the property. Some of these exceptions are the non-availability of the house because of a separation/divorce, building in ruins or inaccessibility to the property.
