Rizkana & Partners is pleased to have acted as legal counsel to the Egyptian General Company for Tourism and Hotels (EGOTH) in connection with the Management and Operations Contract concluded with the global luxury brand Taj Hotels for the historic Continental Hotel in Downtown Cairo.

The agreement was formally signed at the Government Headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, in the presence of H.E. Prime Minister Dr Mostafa Madbouly, marking Taj Hotels’ entry into the Egyptian market and the beginning of a new chapter for one of Cairo’s most iconic landmarks.

The project involves the revival of the monumental Continental Hotel overlooking Opera Square in the heart of Downtown Cairo and represents a national cultural initiative that reflects the State’s vision of preserving Egypt’s architectural heritage while unlocking its economic and touristic potential.

Rizkana & Partners is proud to have contributed to a project that stands as a testament to Egypt’s commitment to safeguarding its cultural legacy.

A Proud Moment for Egypt

As the Grand Egyptian Museum finally opens its doors to the world, I’m filled with immense pride and gratitude. I vividly remember when our firm, 𝐑𝐢𝐳𝐤𝐚𝐧𝐚 & 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬, began working as legal counsel for this visionary project back in 2017, representing the Ministry of Antiquities. For three years, we operated from caravans in the heart of the construction site — navigating challenges, drafting frameworks, and witnessing history in the making.
This wasn’t just a legal assignment. It was a dream shared by many — government officials, private sector leaders, engineers, architects, and countless others — all united by a belief in Egypt’s potential.
The GEM is more than a museum. It’s a symbol of transformation. It showcases not only our ancient heritage but also our modern capabilities and aspirations. The development of the surrounding area is a testament to what true urban renewal can look like — a model for Egypt’s future.

To everyone who contributed to this journey: well done. Let this be a beacon of what we can achieve together. Here's to a bright future for Egypt.

Rizkana & Partners is pleased to announce its contribution to the 1st Edition of Legal 500 Investment Treaty Arbitration Comparative Guide – Egypt.

The chapter authored by R&P focuses on Egypt’s framework for investor–state dispute settlement. It covers Egypt’s ratification of applicable conventions, the scope of its bilateral investment treaties, key legal issues regarding jurisdiction, annulment and enforcement of arbitral awards, as well as recent trends shaping investment arbitration in Egypt.

We were pleased to attend a meeting organized by the Egyptian Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AEPPI), where our law firm, Rizkana & Partners, was represented by Managing Partner Hazim Rizkana, Senior Associate Youssef Rizkana, and Associate Farida Kamal.

The meeting was held in the presence of Minister Dr. Hisham Azmy, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Intellectual Property Authority (EGIPA), and Dr. Mona Yahia, Vice Chairman. During the meeting, they offered insightful perspectives into EGIPA’s ongoing initiatives focused on institutional reform and the strategic enhancement of Egypt’s Intellectual Property (IP) framework.

We had the opportunity to engage in a productive dialogue with both Dr. Azmy and Dr. Yahia, where we discussed current challenges facing IP protection and its enforcement. They kindly shared their vision for advancing the IP system in Egypt, aiming to streamline procedures and enhance adaptability to better serve individuals and businesses navigating the IP process.

It was an encouraging and constructive exchange that reaffirmed the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors in promoting the growth and development of IP in Egypt.

We are pleased to announce that Rizkana and Partners acted as legal counsel to Interpharm Egypt in connection with forming a joint venture, establishing Egypt’s first blood bags manufacturing plant, valued at EGP 1.4 billion, along with Egyptian Company for Medical Investments ECMI, a subsidiary of the Egyptian Unified Procurement Authority, and JMS Singapore Pte. Ltd.

This milestone transaction was signed under the auspices of H.E. Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, the Prime Minister, reinforcing the transaction’s goals in the manufacture of blood bags and blood collection locally with international specifications and contribution to securing health needs and increasing medical exports, reflecting the strategic directions of the Egyptian government to strengthen the local industry and localise the medical technology industries of medical preparations, supplies.

The Rizkana and Partners team advising on this transaction was led by Hazim Rizkana, Managing Partner and included Youssef Rizkana, Senior Associate, and Shaza ElDeeb, Associate.
