Shalakany is pleased to announce a significant arbitration victory before the Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA) on behalf of one of Egypt’s leading service companies specializing in independent testing, inspection, auditing, and certification services. The dispute amounted to over USD 2 million.

This victory reflects the depth and strength of our international arbitration and commercial litigation practice. The dispute involved complex issues of Egyptian civil and contract law, as well as the application of the doctrine of res judicata, all of which were successfully addressed on behalf of our client.

The arbitration was led by Mr. Adam Khaled El Shalakany (Senior Partner) and Nada Hesham Hashem (Senior Associate), working alongside a talented team comprising of Mr. Mohamed Mostafa Hassan and Ms. Nevine Herve Pourcines

Shalakany is pleased to announce a significant litigation victory in favor of one of Egypt’s leading real estate developers, in a complex financial dispute concerning the recovery of substantial amounts disbursed under a prior contractual relationship tainted by the unlawful exploitation of the trust vested by the company’s management at the time. The claim also sought recovery of additional sums withdrawn without legal basis from the company’s accounts.

The Court ultimately ruled in favor of our client, ordering the defendant, a former member of the board of directors to repay the full amount claimed, exceeding EGP 194 million, in addition to statutory interest, thereby securing full recovery of the financial rights in dispute.

This judgment marks the culmination of a legal and technical process spanning over three years, involving the review and analysis of extensive documentation, financial records, and intricate contractual relationships. The team successfully developed and executed a comprehensive litigation strategy that established the client’s entitlement to recover the claimed amounts and demonstrated the unlawful nature of the defendant’s retention thereof.

The significance of this judgment is underscored by the substantial value of the claim and the complexity of the underlying facts, which required a precise and rigorous legal treatment of both contractual and financial aspects to ultimately affirm the company’s right to full restitution.

This achievement reflects the dedication and collective efforts of Shalakany’s litigation team and reinforces the firm’s continued track record of delivering outstanding results for its clients in complex and high-stakes commercial and financial disputes.

Shalakany Secures a Favorable Settlement in USD 2 million Technology Dispute

Shalakany is pleased to announce the successful resolution of a dispute on behalf of a leading multinational technology group, including both its global and Egyptian entities.

The dispute arose from claims brought before the Cairo Economic Court by a software developer. The claimant sought compensation of approximately USD 2 million.

Shalakany handled the settlement negotiations on behalf of its clients leading to the conclusion of a settlement under which the dispute was settled for approximately 2% of the amount originally claimed, bringing the matter to a close without further litigation.

Shalakany’s role encompassed advising the client on the merits and risks of the claims, formulating the litigation strategy, and leading the settlement negotiations that ultimately resulted in a commercially favorable outcome.

Shalakany Secures a Conviction in an Embezzlement and Forgery Case for a Leading Global Technology Company

Shalakany Law Office is pleased to announce that it has successfully secured a conviction ruling in a criminal case involving embezzlement and forgery, acting on behalf of the Egyptian subsidiary of a leading global technology and consumer electronics company. In addition to imposing substantial custodial sentences, the criminal court ordered the convicted parties to reimburse our client in full for the embezzled funds and imposed fines equivalent to the embezzled amount.

Shalakany's engagement commenced with advising the client following the discovery of suspected financial misconduct. The firm subsequently assisted the client throughout the internal investigations phase, including the assessment of the relevant facts, evidence, and potential legal implications arising from the conduct in question.

Following the conclusion of the internal investigation phase, Shalakany prepared and submitted a criminal complaint to the Public Prosecution on the client's behalf. The matter was thereafter investigated by the public prosecution, which ultimately resulted in the initiation of criminal proceedings against the accused.

Shalakany continued to represent the client throughout the criminal proceedings until the issuance of a conviction ruling by the competent criminal court.

This result reflects Shalakany's continued commitment to assisting clients in complex legal matters involving white-collar crimes, corporate investigations, and criminal litigation matters, and its ability to support clients through every stage of the process – from the initial identification of misconduct through to the successful conclusion of criminal proceedings.

Shalakany is pleased to announce that we have secured a litigation win before the Port Said Administrative Courts on behalf of our client, the Egyptian arm of a major European automotive-sector group operating in Egypt and engaged in the manufacturing of electric circuits for cars and vehicles. Our client is one of the largest industrial operators and importers working within Egypt’s free zones framework, with operations forming part of a broader international automotive manufacturing business.

The dispute concerned rights relating to two manufacturing plants in Port Said and involved proceedings brought against both our client and the relevant governmental authority.

We are pleased to have successfully defended our client’s position and protected its rights in what was an important dispute touching upon industrial operations and investment activities in Egypt.

Extending our decade long tradition, this year, Shalakany had the pleasure of sponsoring a team from the British University in Egypt to travel and participate in the 2026 Willem C. Vis Moot in Vienna, Austria. The BUE team had the opportunity to compete against other teams from all around the world and performed well, achieving good scores both as a team and individually. Two of Shalakany’s lawyers also had the opportunity to arbitrate in the competition, as former participants in the Moot themselves.
