📢 Essential Information for Employers About Christmas Salary in the Dominican Republic 🎄💼

The Christmas Salary, also known as the 13th Salary or "Regalía Pascual" or "Doble Sueldo', is a fundamental right for employees, regulated by the Dominican Republic Labor Code. This guide will help you fulfill this obligation, avoid potential legal penalties, and maintain positive employee relations.

1️⃣ What is the Christmas Salary?

It is an additional payment equivalent to the average regular salary earned by the employee during the year. This amount is exempt from Income Tax up to RD$1,275,806. If the amount exceeds this threshold, only the portion above the limit will be taxed.

2️⃣ Who is entitled to it?

All employees are entitled to the Christmas Salary, regardless of their work arrangement. This includes:

Domestic workers (household employees).

Part-time employees.

If an employee has not worked the entire year, they are entitled to a proportional amount based on the time worked.

The payment must be made no later than December 20 of each year.
