Follow us to receive detailed information about every aspect of our production and sale. Our destillery was founded in the 1930's by the former railwayman Mathias Rauls. After being removed from his office by the Nazi authorities he needed to find a different way to make a living for himself and his family. The business of alcohol production proved to be very profitable in the war-torn Germany and
the destillery managed to grow and expand its product range by adding cider and liquors to its spectrum. In the 60's and 70's output peaked in producing an average of 50.000 litres of the so called "Viez" or apple cider and several thousand litres of spirits and liquors which would be delivered to the pubs and restaurants in and surrounding Saarburg. By then the business activity was joined by two grocery stroes and a gas station on the premises of the destillery. After the death of our founder his son in law, Alex Schwabbauer took over the business. He however mainly did so for recreational reasons as his main profession was being a pharmaceuticals representative. The range of products and services, which by then has grown to bottling wine and other non homemade spirits and liquors, was minimized. This small scale production allowed to now target a more sophisticated clientel by offering high quality alcoholic beverages. At that time the well know "Williams Birne" was our most demanded produce. Nowadays our destillery is managed by Matthias Schwabbauer, the son of Alex Schwabbauer, and his two sons for recreational purposes. We only produce about 100 litres of Schnaps a year and can therefore only offer our produce to selected range of customers - are you one of them?
