Private Properties will share 5 fun facts about Prague:

1: There is a Graffiti wall devoted to John Lennon: This tribute began after John Lennon’s death in 1980. The unofficially named “John Lennon Wall” sits in a quiet corner near the Charles Bridge, filled with regularly changing portraits, Beatles lyrics and scrawled messages from international tourists.

2: The locals drink more beer per capita than any other country in the world: This is probably the Czech’s best known claim to fame. The total consumption equals approximately to 150 liters per year per person

3: The Rolling Stones paid to light the Prague Castle: The iconic rock group played one of Prague’s first international concerts after the Velvet Revolution in 1989, and developed a close friendship with Czech President Václav Havel. Legend says that, over drinks with the president, the band admired the prominent monument, but said it was a shame it couldn’t be seen at night. So, the band paid the $32,000 and had their lighting designer install the system that tourists continue to enjoy today.

4: The Charles Bridge has a mathematical significance: Charles IV laid the first stone of this famous monument at 5.31 am on July 9, 1357. The notoriously superstitious king was into astrology and numerology, and chose this date because of its written form: 1-3-5-7-9-7-5-3-1 (year, day, month, time).

5: Yes, the statues on the TV Tower are babies climbing it: Thank Prague’s resident rebel sculptor, David Černy, for modern art with a sense of humor decorating the city. You can get a close-up of the babies with bar code faces on the castle side of the Vltava River, near the Kampa Modern Art Museum.

This week, Private Properties will introduce Prague, a new destination in our worldwide portfolios.

Prague is the capital of Czech Republic with 1.3 million inhabitants and is bisected by the Vltava River. It is a city providing different types of architecture, offering Romanesque chapels and cellars, Gothic cathedrals, Baroque palaces and gardens, worldly Art Nouveau buildings and unique Cubist architecture make it a place with no parallel in the world. You don’t have to be an expert on individual artistic styles in order to appreciate the diversity of the city’s architecture.
Prague alone is spanned by over thirty bridges and footbridges, its water gently laps the edges of ten islands and is perfectly complemented by the medieval Charles Bridge with its Baroque statues. The Vltava embankment is quite a popular part of Prague community life where Farmers’ and flea markets are held there, and in the summer, people stroll and dance. Finally, after a long sightseeing day, you can relax looking at the monuments and the Vltava River while you are tasting a beer of one of the small and medium sized breweries from Czech Republic.

We are delighted to present our first acquisition in Prague, The Charles IV apartment offering a great space and very nice design.

Despite the fact that Austria is a small country, there are a lot of unusual activities that can be done.

In the winter, Austria is a great ski destination with a lot of ski resorts available. Private Properties suggests you to go to St Anton which is situated at 1,305m of altitude and the Valluga, the highest lift, is at 2,810m. This resort is best for advanced skiers, offering 97 lifts, and 345km of slopes. Additionally, St Anton is also as serious about its raucous nightlife as it is about its skiing, so for the ones who equally enjoy the “after-ski”, that resort is a good match.

This weekend, there will be the Formula 1 race in Spielberg, now owned by Red Bull. Spielberg is a charming village situated two hours from Vienna and offering fantastic views of the mountains. The Mercedes and more specifically, Lewis Hamilton are dominating the championship, but Ferrari is fighting hard to keep up with their pace and the grand prix should once again provides great battles.

Finally, the Hangar-7 also owned by Red Bull is a “must see” where you can admire the astonishing historic aircraft collection of Dietrich Mateschitz, the founder and CEO of Red Bull. There are dozens of aircrafts, helicopters, racing cars to see and you can at the same time relax at the fancy bar or restaurant. Moreover, there are also nice piece of art and some airshows all year long, so do not hesitate to have a look at: http://www.hangar-7.com/en/

Hangar-7 (close to Salzburg) is three hours away by car or two hours and a half by train from Vienna, which makes it doable on a day trip added to the fact that the landscape you will see on your way is absolutely beautiful.

In the 18th and 19th century, Vienna was a great musical center which attracted extremely talented musicians. Many of the most well- known composers spent most of their time in the capital of Austria to flourish their talent.

To only list a few, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) was very early announced as a prodigy and started to perform his first musical tour in Europe when he was 5 and composed his first Sonatas at 9. He then moved to Vienna when he was 25 and had the most productive period of his working life as he composed the very famous opera “The marriage of Figaro”, “The Magic Flute” and the “Requiem” even though he could not finish it because he suddenly got seriously ill and passed away.

Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827), originally German, moved to Vienna in 1787 to study and work with Mozart. Beethoven was strongly linked to the aristocracy and the Viennese society so he had a great support from them, leaving him free time to work on his composition. His greatest piece of music are the “Symphony No5”, “Choral Symphony No9” and “Piano Sonata No14”.

There are many events all year long at the Opera house, which was built in the mid-19th century.

This week, Private Properties will introduce Austria, but more specifically Vienna. It is the capital of the country with two million inhabitants and is situated on the banks of the Danube. Vienna is a dream city for anyone with a romantic streak or an interest in history. There are plenty of cultural attractions, whether a classical theater, film, dance festival, opera or concerts, no matter when you come and how long you stay, there will be something exciting for you to discover. Moreover, Vienna offers a charming winter with its Christmas market but also great rooftops in the summer overlooking the city. It is a surprising city where the old architecture is mixed with a modern one which delivers a beautiful result. It is also a small city where everything is easily accessible within few minutes. Walking in the city center, you feel all the history of this city where genius artists were born. Vienna also has luxury shops, such as Chanel, Hermes or Ralph Lauren.

Private Properties is delighted to introduce you its first property in Vienna, a splendid and elegant apartment of 200sqm.
