The Royal Variety Performance is an annual televised variety show in the UK that features a diverse line-up of entertainers and is held in aid of the Royal Variety Charity.
The Royal Variety Charity was established in 1908 and is dedicated to giving support to those who have professionally served the entertainment industry and find themselves sick, impoverished or elderly. The charity provides residential and nursing care for elderly entertainers at its own care home, Brinsworth House in Twickenham and also provides a nationwide grant scheme for those living in their own homes, of any age, living anywhere in the UK.
The charity is one of a handful of charities in the UK that has an unbroken line of patronage from the reigning Sovereign since HM King George V. HM King Charles III being its current Royal Patron.
