Το γραφείο μας συμμετείχε στα 3 διαδικτυακά σεμινάρια συνολικής διάρκειας 9 ωρών τα οποία διωργανώθηκαν από τον Παγκύπριο Δικηγορικό Σύλλογο και αφορούσαν την καταπολέμηση του ξεπλύματος χρήματος και τη χρηματοδότηση της τρομοκρατίας με ιδιαίτερη έμφαση στη νομοθεσία, στις τελευταίες εξελίξεις όπως τις κυρώσεις που επιβλήθηκαν στη Ρωσία και πως αυτές επηρεάζουν το νομικό τομέα, και στην αξιολόγηση κινδύνου, τη δέουσα επιμέλεια, και τη συνεχή παρακολούθηση συναλλαγών, τα οποία διοργανώθηκαν στο τέλος του 2022.

On 09.12.2022 two members of our firm attended the 10th Banking Forum & Fintech Expo at the Hilton Hotel in Nicosia, at the invitation of imh. The half-day event dealt with a multitude of interesting topics such as the digital transformation of banking, managing financial risk at these extraordinary times we live in, the era of financial technology and digital payments, and the new consumer (Millennials and Generation Z). The Forum was sponsored and attended by the biggest banks of the island among other high-profile institutions in the field. Την Πέμπτη 6.10.2022 παρευρεθήκαμε στην εκδήλωση στη Λευκωσία με την οποία παρουσιάστηκε και ουσιαστικά εγκαινιάστηκε το Κυπριακό Κέντρο Διαιτησίας και Διαμεδολάβησης το οποίο προσβλέπει στην εναλλακτική επίλυση διαφορών.

Την 27.1.2022 παρακολουθήσαμε το σεμινάριο του Παγκύπριου Δικηγορικού Συλλόγου με τίτλο "Ένας χρόνος εφαρμογής του περί Πρόσβασης σε Πληροφορίες του Δημοσίου Τομέα Νόμου, Ν. 184(Ι)/2017".

We wish to congratulate our colleague and friend Ioanna Zigka on receiving her Masters Degree in Banking & Finance Law. Ioanna was awarded her LLM from the University of London in a long-awaited graduation ceremony in London on 15.7.2022. She studied for her degree while also working full-time for the firm which makes this an even greater achievement, considering the fast-paced nature of litigation which our firm focuses on and the many tasks she is called upon to complete during her day. Ioanna has been working for the firm for the past 7 years starting immediately after finishing her undergraduate degree and has since been going from strength to strength as a top-tier lawyer and trusted colleague.

Έχουμε εκπαιδευτεί από το Χρηματιστήριο Αξιών Κύπρου (ΧΑΚ) μέσω του διαδικτυακού σεμιναρίου "Η Χρηματιστηριακή Νομοθεσία για πρόσωπα που ενδιαφέρονται να εγγραφούν ως Σύμβουλοι Εισαγωγής για τη Ν. Ε. Α. Αγορά (Νεοαναπτυσσόμενων Εταιρειών Αγορά) του ΧΑΚ" (22.4.2021) αναφορικά με την εν λόγω αγορά και το νομοθετικό πλαίσιο που την αφορά.

We took part: 25.1.2022 - "The Future of Legal Practice: The Law Commission: Smart Contracts and Digital Assets" (organised by King's College London). Ms Sarah Green, Law Commissioner for Commercial and Common Law, discussed the Law Commission's recent work on emerging technologies, in particular the Advice to Government on Smart Contracts, the legal problems to which digital assets give rise, and the Law Commission's proposed responses.

On 28.7.2022 we took part in the online seminar organised by the Cyprus Bar Association on Law & Technology with a focus on crypto-assets. The two-hour seminar was very informative and we thank the Association’s Committee and Mr Konstantinos Kaniouras from the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission for their valuable contributions regarding the nature of such assets and the approach current and upcoming law and regulation will take in regards to them.

Την 28.7.2022 παρακολουθήσαμε το διαδικτυακό σεμινάριο «Δίκαιο & Τεχνολογία: Κρυπτοπεριουσιακά, Χρηματοοικονομικές Υπηρεσίες και Ρυθμιστές» της Επιτροπής Τεχνολογίας τους Παγκύπριου Δικηγορικού Συλλόγου (ΠΔΣ). Κύριος ομιλητής ήταν ο κος Κωνσταντίνος Κανιούρας, Λειτουργός Α’ της Επιτροπής Κεφαλαιαγοράς Κύπρου. Ο ομιλητής και τα μέλη της Επιτροπής Τεχνολογίας του ΠΔΣ κα Χριστιάνα Αριστείδου, κα Άντρη Μιχαήλ, κος Σάιμον Ζένιος, κα Μικαέλα Καντόρ, και κος Γλαύκος Μιτσίδης συζήτησαν τις καινοτόμες τεχνολογίες στις χρηματοοικονομικές υπηρεσίες και την εποπτική αντίδραση αναφορικά με αυτές, υφιστάμενη και επικείμενη. Τους ευχαριστούμε για τη διοργάνωση.

On 17.5.2022 we took part in the Seminar IP for You jointly organised by the Intellectual Property Section of the Department of the Registrar of Companies and Intellectual Property and the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). The Seminar focused on applications examined by the EUIPO regarding similar signs, proof of use, and the SME Fund.
