Εύχομαι να καταστεί θεσμός, έτσι ώστε όλοι οι εμπλεκόμενοι φορείς και επαγγελματίες να μπορούν εποικοδομητικά να θέτουν τις απόψεις τους και να συζητούν πάντα με γνώμονα την προαγωγή της Υγείας.

The Cyprus Court of Appeal has recently delivered a definitive statement on the Rule of Law. In the landmark case of General Attorney v. Oleksandr Sergiyovich Lazaniuk (114/2025), the court established that Cyprus will not act as a bureaucratic rubber stamp for foreign extradition requests.
This judgment is a significant development for international criminal law, emphasizing that procedural integrity and the "unjust and oppressive" nature of legal delays are absolute bars to extradition. In an era of geopolitical instability, our judiciary continues to serve as a vital filter to ensure that international cooperation never comes at the expense of fundamental human rights. ⚖️

The extradition process constitutes one of the most complex areas of criminal law, as it requires a constant balance between the state’s international obligations to combat crime and the imperative need to protect fundamental human rights. The recent decision of the Cyprus Court of Appeal in the case of General Attorney v. Oleksandr Sergiyovich Lazaniuk (Civil Appeal No. 114/2025) serves as a landmark regarding how Cypriot courts address extradition requests, particularly when originating from jurisdictions facing significant geopolitical challenges, such as Ukraine and Russia.

Cyprus is working hard toward joining the Schengen Area. While we wait for the official green light, it’s the perfect time to look at the massive positives this move would bring to our international community:

🏠 Stronger Residency: Your Cyprus residence permit would become a "golden key" for short stays across most of Europe.
⏳ Why act now? Status and documentation don't happen overnight. By regularizing your family’s residency today, you’ll be the first to enjoy the benefits if/when accession is finalized.

Cyprus remains outside the Schengen Area as at March 2026, but the Republic continues to pursue accession during 2026. For HNWI and internationally mobile families, accession would materially improve short-stay mobility across the Schengen zone, but it would not create a right to live, work or establish tax residence elsewhere in the EU. The correct approach is to plan now: secure the right Cyprus residence route, align family members, review visa exposure, and structure personal, business and holding arrangements so that mobility benefits can be used immediately once accession is completed.

Brief introduction of an essential tool within the framework of corporate liquidation in Cyprus, securing the efficient administration of insolvency proceedings and enhancing the protection of the interests of creditors and other stakeholders involved in the liquidation process.

Within the context of corporate liquidation, situations may arise where the management of a company’s assets or business operations presents particular complexity or requires specialised expertise. In such circumstances, Cypriot company law provides for the possibility of appointing a Special Manager, a mechanism intended to facilitate the effective administration of specific aspects of the liquidation process.

Ο πρόσφατος Οδηγός του Συμβουλίου των Δικηγορικών Συλλόγων της Ευρώπης (CCBE) για τη χρήση της παραγωγικής τεχνητής νοημοσύνης (Generative AI – GenAI ή παραγωγική ΤΝ) από δικηγόρους, που εκδόθηκε στις 2 Οκτωβρίου 2025, σηματοδοτεί το πρώτο πανευρωπαϊκό πλαίσιο δεοντολογικής καθοδήγησης για το επάγγελμα. Η Επιτροπή Τεχνολογίας του Παγκύπριου Δικηγορικού Συλλόγου μελέτησε τον Οδηγό και εξέδωσε αναλυτική σύνοψη, προσαρμόζοντάς τον στο κυπριακό πλαίσιο.

Recently, the Cypriot government (Κυπριακή Κυβέρνηση - Cyprus Government) announced its initiative towards establishing a Unified Supervisory Authority. Through this initiative the government suggests to consolidate the oversight of administrative service providers across sectors, such as the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC), the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPAC), and the Cyprus Bar Association (CBA). The government promotes this measure as a means to improve Cyprus’s financial reputation internationally.
