Our head of the Life Sciences and Healthcare practice Bisera Andrijašević contributed to this debut issue with an article focused on applied law in the Life Sciences sector, an area where innovation and regulation intersect in increasingly complex ways. The Montenegrin chapter provides a comprehensive overview of the amendments introduced to the gambling framework by the new Games of Chance Act, which entered into force on 14 August 2025. Key changes include transition from the concession-based model to a licensing system, increase of financial obligations for operators, and establishment of a state-owned lottery with exclusive rights to offer lottery games.

In recent months, the Italian Competition and Market Authority (AGCM) opened investigations against AI providers ScaleUp and DeepSeek, for alleged violations of consumer protection law. These initiatives illustrate the potential of applying the existing regulatory framework to probe into the use of artificial intelligence, as a complement to the application of the EU AI Act or other specific (AI) legislation.
