INTENSIVE PREPARATORY CLASSES TO QUALIFY AS ADVOCATE IN TRAINING

In preparation for the examination to qualify as Advocate in Training launched by the Cameroon Bar Association, we are pleased to announce a 7-week intensive programme combining rigorous preparatory classes with practical training.

Duration:
📅 28th February – 12th April 2026

Faculty:
Sessions will be facilitated by a team of highly experienced professionals, including seasoned lawyers, magistrates, law lecturers, and senior court registrars, with a strong focus on examination techniques and practical courtroom exposure.

Venue:
📍 Inter Comprehensive High School
Campaign Street, Great Soppo, Buea

Schedule:
• Saturdays: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon
• Sundays: 12:00 noon – 3:00 p.m.

This programme is designed to equip would be Advocates-in-Training with the knowledge, discipline, and confidence required to excel in the Bar examinations and professional legal practice.

According to Law No. 90/059 du 19 Décembre 1990 portant organisation de la Profession de l’Avocature, and son Décret d’application n°95/048 du 8 Mars 1995, the Lawyer is bound by strict Deontological principles indépendance, dignité, probité, humanité et désintéressement

These are not optional virtues; they are the pillars that uphold our Profession

Being a Lawyer in Cameroon is more than mastering procedures or winning arguments

It is a calling rooted in deontology the ethical compass that demands independence, integrity, probity, and above all, the defense of Human dignity

Law No. 90/059 of 19 December 1990 makes this clear: Article 15 requires every Lawyer to swear an oath to act with dignity, conscience, probity, humanity, and respect for the courts and the laws of the Republic

Articles 20, 21, and 29 reinforce the duty of secrecy, loyalty, and honor. These are not abstract ideals they are the lifeblood of justice

But deontology goes even further

The Constitution, especially after the amendments of 1996 and 2008, ties Advocacy to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the UN Charter, and the African Charter

In practice, this means a Lawyer cannot remain silent in the face of injustice

Whether it is challenging unlawful detention, demanding a fair trial, or standing up for equality, the Lawyer is called to be a true defender of rights

So, to be a Lawyer is not just to plead in court it is to stand as a custodian of justice and a bulwark against abuse of power

Advocacy is both a profession and a mission: to safeguard Human dignity and strengthen democracy itself
