World Bank calls OfReC’s partner and lawyer of Universidad de Chile, Francisco Agüero, to share its expertise in energy regulation and competition law in the Philippines.

Mr. Agüero´s presentation was entitled “Conceptual regulation and framework of reliability in electricity: the Chilean case”. It took place on October 18th 2017 at the University of the Philippines in Manila.

The seminar “Fostering Dynamic Competition in the Philippine Electricity Industry” was organized by the Energy Policy and Development Program (EPDP), sponsored by USAID and the UPecon Foundation, in partnership with the Philippine Competition Commission and the World Bank Group.

OfReC, Climate Focus and EBP propose an ETS for Chile

Since 2016 OfReC, along the international firms Climate Focus and EBP, have been developing a routemap for the creation of an Emission Trading System.

The first alternatives for an ETC in Chile are been discussed today (July 27th 2017) in the 10th Workshop of the Expert Committee of the Ministry of Energy.

The research project is sponsored by the World Bank, within its Partnership for Market Readiness (PMR) and supervised in Chile by the Ministry of Energy. While OfReC leads the joint venture and contributes with its regulatory affairs and institutional design experience, Climate Focus bring into the project its comprehensive experience in climate change and EBP its know how implementing an ETS in Switzerland.

OfReC starts 2017 on the right foot. On January 10th a research project for the Chilean Ministry of Social Development got final approval. Its objectives consist in the diagnosis of citizen engagement levels and practices, and development of recommendations to improve the Cooperative Governance of the Secretariat of Social Assessment and Secretariat of Social Services.
