Pro Bono Students Canada - Manitoba Pro Bono Students Canada (PBSC) is program that provides legal services without charge to organizations and individuals in need in Canada.

Pro Bono Students Canada is a national network of law schools, law students, community organizations and lawyers that work together to solve traditionally unmet legal problems. The program provides students with an opportunity to develop legal skills, engage their community and be exposed to public interest law while providing legal resources that would otherwise be inaccessible to these organizat

ions and community partners. PBSC encourages students and legal professionals to cultivate a probono work ethic by volunteering in their communities and providing under-represented and disadvantaged individuals, groups and organizations with legal services. PBSC Manitoba facilitates these efforts by matching volunteer law students with non-profit agencies, lawyers taking pro bono cases and other public interest groups to provide legal information and research that is supervised by a practicing lawyer.

PBSC is excited to announce the 7th annual Chief Justice Richard Wagner Awards!

In 2020, with the support of the Right Honourable Richard Wagner, Chief Justice of Canada, PBSC launched the Chief Justice Richard Wagner Awards to recognize our outstanding student volunteers across the country.

The awards recognize one volunteer from each of our Chapters who has demonstrated exemplary leadership and commitment to PBSC’s mission of providing free legal support to people and communities facing barriers to justice.

Nominations for the 2025 Awards will open on February 2.
