BREAKING: Canada’s 2026–2028 Immigration Levels Plan will introduce new measures to grant permanent residence to temporary residents.

According to Budget 2025, the government will launch a new program to transition up to 33,000 work permit holders to permanent residency between 2026 and 2027.

The upcoming Plan will also feature several key changes, including:

A reduction in the temporary resident admissions target for 2026 to 385,000, down from 673,650 in 2025.

Granting permanent resident status to eligible Protected Persons in Canada over the next two years.

Good news for tradespeople who want to move and settle in Alberta……

Eligible skilled tradespeople will be able to apply for a $5,000 bonus to help offset the cost of moving to Alberta starting May 1, 2025.

The Alberta is Calling Moving Bonus, is a one-time refundable tax credit for up to 2,000 individuals in the skilled trades.


Applications will be assessed on a first-come, first-served basis.
