At a four-way stop, the right of way depends on who stops first.

If one vehicle comes to a complete stop before the other, that vehicle goes first. If both vehicles stop at the same time, the vehicle on the left must yield to the vehicle on the right.

Knowing who goes first can help avoid confusion and reduce the risk of a collision at intersections.

Many drivers think only speeding can lead to a ticket, but driving well below the flow of traffic can also create safety concerns. If you’re holding up traffic or creating a hazard, you could be ticketed.

Operation Impact 2026 is underway across Canada this Thanksgiving long weekend.

From October 9–12, officers will be increasing their focus on high-risk driving behaviours, including impaired driving, aggressive driving, distracted driving, fatigue, and seatbelt violations.

With more people on the road, a few simple choices can make a big difference: drive sober, slow down, put the phone away, buckle up, and plan ahead.
