Today we’re launching the Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET), a special temporary residence pathway to welcome Ukrainians and their families to Canada: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/news/2022/03/canada-launches-new-temporary-residence-pathway-to-welcome-those-fleeing-the-war-in-ukraine.html

With CUAET, Ukrainians and their family members can stay in Canada as temporary residents for up to 3 years. They will also be eligible for a free open work permit or study permit, which will allow them to work or study across Canada.

Ukrainians and their family who are already in Canada can also apply to extend their visitor status or work permit for up to 3 years or apply for a new work or study permit. We will waive the application fees.

For more information on CUAET and how to apply, visit: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/ukraine-measures.html

We will accept a record number of applications for the 2021 Parents and Grandparents (PGP) program and give those who submitted an Interest to Sponsor form in 2020 another chance to be selected to apply. http://ow.ly/T0El50FA8qA

For the 2021 PGP intake, we will randomly select from the remaining pool of Interest to Sponsor forms received in 2020 and then send invitations to apply to potential sponsors, starting the week of September 20, 2021. We’ll send enough invitations to reach our goal of accepting 30,000 complete applications. Learn more about the 2021 process: http://ow.ly/MNlS50FA8qB

International students with, or approved for, a study permit who will be attending a designated learning institution with a readiness plan approved by their provincial or territorial government may be able to travel to Canada.

The list of designated learning institutions with approved readiness plans is now live: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/coronavirus-covid19/students/approved-dli.html

If you plan to come to Canada as an international student, your designated learning institutions must be on the list with approved readiness plans before you travel. Please be reminded that all travellers must have a plan to quarantine for 14 days upon arrival in Canada.

We’ve been making it easier for international students to pursue their studies online from abroad. Learn about the measures we’ve put in place on PGWP eligibility for those studying from abroad: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/coronavirus-covid19/students.html -online
