Kyra Benloulou, Clinical Instructor & Supervising Lawyer at The Law Centre

Kyra Benloulou, Clinical Instructor & Supervising Lawyer at The Law Centre I completed my honours undergraduate degree in psychology at the University of Victoria in 2012 and was accepted into UVic’s Faculty of Law in 2013.

The Law Centre provides legal services and representation to between 1,800 and 2,000 low income clients per year and is the longest running common-law clinical program in Canada. After graduating from law school in 2016, I articled at The Law Centre in Victoria, where I gained experience as a litigator in civil, criminal defence, administrative, and human rights law. Next, I spent a year working a

s an adjudicator for RoadSafetyBC, where I conducted hearings and independently wrote legally binding decisions on reviews of Immediate Roadside Prohibitions. Following this, I worked at a large firm in Victoria, practicing insurance defence alongside Bobbie Keigan, before she went on to found Corvus Law. I have been very fortunate to work with and learn from brilliant women in leadership throughout my working life. I was delighted when Bobbie asked me to come and work with her again at Corvus. Currently, my practice concentrates on criminal defence. I also represent clients with human rights cases, wrongful dismissal claims, and a wide variety of other civil litigation matters. I take the time to appreciate my clients’ unique circumstances, which better enables me to vigorously defend their interests, whether in the context of a settlement, hearing, mediation, or trial. In my spare time, I enjoy playing boardgames, walking around Elk Lake, dog-sitting for friends and family, and competing with my team in an annual international scavenger hunt.
