Red Cedar Advocacy Centre

Red Cedar Advocacy Centre Community-based, not-for-profit law clinic based on lək̓ʷəŋən and W̱SÁNEĆ territories

The Red Ceder Advocacy Centre (RCAC) is a community-based, not-for-profit legal clinic advancing individual client matters as well as strategic initiatives for human rights, equality and ecological stewardship, including Indigenous rights. The Centre and it’s Neighbours Helping Neighbours Program are operated by the Red Cedar Community Association, a registered non-profit society based in Lekwunge

n Territory (“Victoria, BC”). We aim to reduce barriers to justice by offering legal services on a free or pay-what-you-can basis to low-income community members, Indigenous peoples, people of colour and other people from equity-seeking groups. The Centre also works to address systemic issues while building togetherness in the community and neighbourhood resilience, through community-based programs.

On Earth Day, we celebrate our planetary home with gratitude and reflection, and the hope to build a more sustainable way of living to protect our environments and all beings who inhabit them.

At Red Cedar Advocacy Centre, we know that environmental and climate justice is one of the keys to justice for all, and requires legal justice for Indigenous rights, environmental stewardship, land and water defence, and human rights.

Happy Earth Day! 🌏

This is the first video of a series of short films documenting the work and life of Elder Bill Jones, put together by the Red Cedar Community Association, and guided by Bill Jones.

Bill Jones’s work and approach is vital for having an understanding of the political context of the Pacheedaht territories where the Fairy Creek Blockades take place. This video series seeks to amplify Bill Jones’s call for cultivating place-based relationships, dismantling extractive and violent industrial practices, and upholding Nuu-Chah-Nulth land stewardship and sovereignty.

You can contribute to help Bill tell his story, by sharing this message from our youtube link below, or by sending donation to [email protected]
