PREDICT THE VERDICT
Mario and Maria are scheduled to get married on April 25th.
The wedding reception was scheduled to take place with 250 guests at the very posh La Dancia banquet hall.
A deposit of $10,000 was previously provided to the banquet hall.
Due to Covid-19, the wedding reception is now cancelled.
Mario and Maria want the deposit back.
La Dancia says that the deposit is forfeit because the event is cancelled for a reason that is not the fault of La Dancia.
Are Mario and Maria entitled to return of the deposit?
A. No, a deposit is lost if an event is cancelled.
B. No, a deposit is to secure the date regardless.
C. No, because Maria is marrying the wrong guy.
D. Yes, as nobody is at fault for the cancellation.
E. Maybe, it all depends on what the contract said.
