Today, Michelle shared the story of her brother, Taylor, with the graduating students of Ajax High School, reminding them of the devastating impact impaired driving can have on individuals, families, and communities.

Tomorrow would have been Taylor’s 40th birthday, making this message especially meaningful. Students received red ribbons to place on cars, lockers, and throughout the school as a reminder to always make safe choices.

Thank you, Michelle, for continuing to honour Taylor’s legacy, and thank you to Durham Regional Police Service for supporting these important conversations.

UPDATE: A crash involving a passenger vehicle and four motorcycles near Omemee has claimed the lives of three people and left another seriously injured.

Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Highway 7 and Heights Road around 6:00 p.m. yesterday evening following reports of a serious collision.

According to OPP, the driver of the passenger vehicle, an 18-year-old man from Peterborough, was pronounced dead at the scene.

One of the motorcyclists, a 72-year-old man from Dunchurch, also died at the scene.

A second motorcyclist, a 65-year-old man from Barrie, was airlifted to a Toronto-area trauma centre with serious injuries but later succumbed to those injuries.

A third motorcyclist, a 30-year-old man from Sudbury, was initially taken to a local hospital before being transferred to a Toronto-area trauma centre for further treatment.

A fourth motorcyclist, a 36-year-old man from Sudbury, was treated at the scene and released.

Members of the OPP Technical Collision Investigation unit attended to assist with the investigation.

Highway 7 was closed for several hours last evening while investigators examined the scene.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.

The Pontypool Firefighters Association is reminding passengers to keep their feet off the dashboard while travelling in a vehicle after noticing the dangerous habit during a recent response on Highway 115.

Firefighters said that while working at the scene of a collision, they saw numerous vehicles passing by with passengers resting their feet on the dashboard. The sight prompted the association to share an important safety message with the public.

According to firefighters, riding with your feet on the dashboard can lead to severe injuries in the event of a crash.

When a collision occurs, the passenger-side airbag deploys with tremendous force and can inflate at speeds ranging from approximately 160 km/h to 350 km/h.

If a passenger's feet are on the dashboard when the airbag deploys, that force can drive the knees back toward the face almost instantly. Firefighters warn that the result can be catastrophic injuries, including broken femurs, dislocated hips, pelvic injuries and serious facial fractures.

Emergency responders say airbags are designed to protect occupants who are seated properly with both feet on the floor and wearing a seatbelt. Sitting in any other position can significantly increase the risk of injury during a collision.

The Pontypool Firefighters Association is encouraging everyone to take a moment to review safe seating habits and ensure all passengers are seated correctly before hitting the road.

"Keeping your feet on the floor could prevent life-altering injuries," firefighters said in their public safety reminder.

“Police Seek Witnesses to Serious Motorcycle Collision in Hamilton:
Hamilton Police are appealing to the public for information following a serious single-vehicle motorcycle collision in the city's east end.
Last night, Sunday, June 7, 2026, at approximately 8:42 p.m., Hamilton Police and Hamilton Paramedic Service responded to a collision involving a motorcycle near Industrial Drive and Ottawa Street Northolice Seek Witnesses to A 2015 Kawasaki Ninja was travelling westbound on Nikola Tesla Boulevard, approaching a curve in the road near Industrial Drive and Ottawa Street North, when the rider was unable to navigate the curve. The motorcycle left the roadway and struck a guardrail.
The 19-year-old male rider was transported to hospital with life-altering injuries.
Investigators are also asking motorists to review dash camera footage and nearby residents or businesses to check surveillance video for anything that may assist the investigation. Info Via Hamilton Police Service”
