SERIOUS COLLISION CLOSES NORTHEYS BAY ROAD

Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and emergency crews were dispatched to a report of a serious collision on Northeys Bay Road involving a pickup truck and a motorcycle.

On Sunday August 30, 2026, at approximately 6:30pm, officers from the Peterborough County OPP were dispatched to a collision on Northeys Bay Road. The caller was Lindsay EMS who were already enroute. Officers arrived on scene to find a westbound pickup truck with front end damage and a motorcycle that had been travelling eastbound, laying on the road beside the truck. The motorcycle appeared to have failed to negotiate a bend in the road, crossing into the westbound lane resulting in the collision.

The operator of the motorcycle, a 23-year-old male from Ottawa, was being attended to by EMS and as a result of their injuries, were to be airlifted to a Toronto area trauma centre. The passenger of the motorcycle, a 22-year-old female from Peterborough, was transported to a local hospital but later, due to the extent of their injuries, was also transported to a Toronto area trauma centre.

Northeys Bay Road remained closed for several hours while first responders dealt with the collision scene and officers trained in collision reconstruction measured and documented the scene.

The collision is still under investigation, and police ask that anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has dashcam or video footage and has not yet spoken to police, contact the Peterborough County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
