Sellers ask what they are actually paying for, and it is a fair thing to ask out loud.

Pricing comes first, and it has less to do with opinion than with knowing exactly which three houses on which three streets a buyer will be weighing yours against next month.

Then the marketing, meaning photographs that survive a phone screen, a description that sounds like a home rather than a spec sheet, and enough reach that you end up with more than one interested party, because one party is not a negotiation.

After that it turns into logistics: showings scheduled around your actual life, paperwork chased, the lender and the title company nudged along every few days.

And then the negotiating, which is usually where the compensation earns itself back several times over.

Very little of that is glamorous, but it is most of the job.

Have you ever watched someone else move ahead and wondered, “Why is it taking me so long?”

Or compared your progress to someone else’s and questioned whether you’re falling behind?

I recently read a little fable that made me pause.

A dog kept having puppies while an elephant was still waiting for her baby.

The dog asked, “Why is it taking you so long?”

The elephant replied, “We’re growing something different.”

That idea stayed with me.

Sometimes, we work hard, care deeply, and still need more time. Our journey may simply require a different timeline.

Moving from education into real estate has meant learning, starting again, and having the courage to be a beginner.

It’s reminded me that we don’t have to know everything right away. We just have to stay willing to learn.

What guides me is the kind of person—and REALTOR®—I want to become: someone who listens carefully, keeps her word, and stays present when things get difficult.

To me, resilience means asking questions, learning from setbacks, and coming back better prepared.

That’s the commitment I bring to my clients, too. When a move feels uncertain or plans change, I want to help you navigate the next step with patience and honesty.

So, if your progress feels slow, try to remember: you may not be behind. You may be growing something different.

Keep learning. Keep taking the next step.

What are you working toward right now? I’d love to hear your thoughts.

What does pre-approval actually get you?

Two things, and the first one is internal. You stop spending Saturdays in houses you were never going to be able to buy, which saves you a couple of months and a fair bit of heartache.

The second is what happens when a seller has two similar offers on the table and one of them arrives with a lender's letter attached.
