🇮🇳 Happy Independence Day!
Before there was a flag, there was a fight.
There was a generation that walked to the salt pans knowing they would be beaten. That went to the gallows at an age when most of us were still finding our footing. That sat in Cellular Jail, that marched at Jallianwala Bagh, that carried the tricolour when carrying it was a crime.
They did not live to see the country we live in. They fought anyway.
Our grandparents inherited a nation with empty coffers and torn borders. They built roads, schools, courts, industries and institutions out of almost nothing. Every freedom we take for granted today to vote, to speak, to worship, to build, to travel the world with an Indian passport was paid for by someone who received nothing in return.
Freedom was not given to us. It was won, and then it was built.
On this 79th Independence Day, the question is not what India has given us. It is what we are adding to what was handed down.
Wishing every Indian, at home and across the world, a very Happy Independence Day.
Jai Hind. 🇮🇳
