⚠️ Digital Arrest Scams – What You Need to Know
Imagine getting a call claiming to be from the police, the government, or even a lawyer — telling you there's a warrant out for your arrest unless you pay immediately. Sounds terrifying, right? That's exactly what digital arrest scammers are counting on.
These scams use fear and urgency to trick people into sending money, usually via cryptocurrency or gift cards. The caller often pretends to be from the IRS, RCMP, FBI, CRA, or other serious agencies, saying you're under investigation for things like tax fraud or money laundering.
But here’s the truth:
⚠️ No real law enforcement agency will ever ask you to pay to avoid arrest.
⚠️ They definitely won’t demand crypto, gift cards, or wire transfers.
If you ever get a call like this:
Hang up.
Don’t send money.
Report it immediately.
At Payback Gate, we help victims of digital arrest scams trace and fight back. If you've been targeted or already sent money, contact us. We may be able to recover your funds and guide you through the next steps.
