We are a small but busy law office located in Gastown beside Waterfront Station and are seeking a full-time Conveyancer to join our team.
Experience: The preferred candidate will have at least 3 years of previous conveyancing experience and have completed a recognized Legal Assistant or Paralegal program.
Start date: ASAP
The ideal candidate:
• is personable and detail oriented with a positive and professional manner
• has strong organizational and communication skills (verbal and written)
• takes initiative and is able to work independently
• is proficient in Office, G Suite, Adobe Acrobat Econvey, myLTSA, BC Online
• is willing to learn and work under tight deadlines and schedules, while providing exceptional customer service skills
• can handle conveyancing files from start to finish
• has a strong understanding and familiarity with trust accounting rules (experience with Clio accounting software is a bonus)
The position will focus on assisting our two Real Estate Lawyers manage and grow a strong residential real estate practice.
Responsibilities include:
• Opening files
• Conducting due diligence searches
• Reviewing contracts, mortgage instructions, title searches, commission reports, etc.
• Entry of trust and excess deposits, cutting cheques upon completion
• Bank runs
• Preparing sale, purchase, and refinance documents and ensuring
• Following up on holdbacks and discharges
• Ordering strata forms, title insurance, insurance binders, etc.
• Corresponding with clients, lawyers/notaries, conveyancers, Realtors, brokerages, mortgage brokers, lenders, etc.
• Scheduling appointments
• Reporting to clients and lenders
