Think a debtor can just say 'I have nothing'? Not quite.

Garnishing wages only works if you know where the money actually is. In Part 4 of our Collection Process series, we break down how an examination in aid of ex*****on and a subpoena to debtor can force a judgment debtor to reveal their assets, and it's not optional to skip.

Want to know how to actually get the answers you need? Read the full breakdown in the link below.

Your insurance won't pay to rebuild? Here's why that happens. 🏠

Many property owners focus on their insured value, but the real question is: how much would it actually cost to rebuild if disaster struck? That's your Replacement Cost Value (RCV), and getting it wrong could leave you underinsured after a fire, wildfire, or flood.

Want to know how RCV is calculated, and what to do if your insurer disputes it? Read the full breakdown below.

Cross-border parenting cases often raise challenging jurisdictional issues.

Congratulations to Raha Seyed Ali and Keita Szemok-Uto on their successful representation of the claimant in S.Y. v. D.S., 2026 BCSC 1403, where the Court confirmed BC jurisdiction, ordered a s. 211 assessment, granted interim parenting time, and awarded costs.

Winning the judgment was step one. Here's how you actually get paid.

Part 2 of our Collection Process series is live! We're breaking down garnishment, a legal tool that lets a judgment creditor intercept funds a debtor is owed and redirect them straight to court, before the debtor can touch a cent.

A strong result for our Litigation team.

Micah Goldberg and Camelia Alikashani successfully appealed a BC Supreme Court decision in Purssell v. Purssell, securing our client's right of first refusal and enabling her to purchase her family home after her siblings sought to sell it to a third party. The appeal was brought on an expedited timeline and the decision was issued one month after the order that was appealed from. It provides valuable guidance on the interaction between the court ordered listing for sale process and subsequent court approval of sales applications made under the Partition of Property Act.
