CANADIAN IMMIGRATION WARNING: New Cancellation Risk in Canada!

A major policy shift came into effect on November 4, 2025: Canadian authorities (IRCC/CBSA) will have new power to cancel issued temporary status documents, including Work Permits, Study Permits, TRVs, and eTAs.

What You Need to Know:
Cancelation Triggers: Documents can be revoked if you no longer meet eligibility, misrepresented facts, or if officials believe you won't leave Canada at the end of your authorized stay.

Action for Employers: COMPLIANCE IS CRITICAL. Ensure your foreign workers' employment details (job, wages, location) are perfectly consistent with the initial offer and the Work Permit.

The Best Defense: Start the process for Permanent Residence (PR) immediately to remove this temporary status risk entirely.

Don't wait for a cancellation notice. Get ahead of this new regulation!

CHANGES TO CANADA'S EXPRESS ENTRY SYSTEM MAY INCREASE CHANCES OF FOREIGN INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS STUDYING IN CANADA AND LMIA-EXEMPT TEMPORARY FOREIGN WORKERS IN CANADA TO BE INVITED TO APPLY FOR PERMANENT RESIDENCY:

As of November 19th, 2016, the Express Entry System has been updated. It is now possible to score additional points in the Comprehensive Ranking System ("CRS") if you have studied and obtained a degree in Canada above the high school level. This is a positive change for foreign international students that have completed studies in a 1 or 2 year diploma, certificate or degree program in Canada since they are now eligible to increase their CRS ranking score under Canada's Express Entry system.

It is now possible for temporary foreign workers in Canada to obtain additional points under the CRS if they are (or have been) working in Canada under an LMIA-exempt work permit - such as NAFTA - and their employer provides a job offer for 1 year or more. More specifically, provided they meet certain requirements, applicants under Express Entry are now eligible for additional CRS points for non-permanent job offers from prospective employers.

Another change has seen an increase or decrease of the amount of CRS points that are awarded for jobs corresponding to specific codes under the National Occupation Classification (NOC).

Targeted improvements to the Express Entry system are being made on November 19, 2016. Supporting Canada's Global Skills Strategy, the changes will help better attract some of the best minds in the world, including former international students, experienced professionals and talented workers who wil...
